Thankfully, the hard drives (Windows XP and 7) were both below the data

I built a new computer and needed to get some data from my old hard drive

(Your drive will open just like a regular folder when detected)I did get an initial message "not authorized" or "You do not have permissions" I ignored it and was able to access years of games, pictures and videos I thought were lost from old computers that we threw away but were smart enough to keep the hard drive

Reads/writes both 3 1/2" hard drives and 2 1/2" SSDs.

Works perfectly for when you are too lazy to open your computer case or already have it loaded with Hard drives!

tested it with 3.5in , 2.5 hard drives and also with SSD drive.

If you want to swap hard drives in the docking station, you should turn off the power to the unit, swap the drives out, then power it back on.

This docking station worked for what I needed, a temporary port to yank information from one hard drive to another when the power supply on the towers died after not being used for nearly two years

We were finally able to get into a hard drives who's registry got corrupted and became stuck in a boot loop

If you can't use or operate this product then you or your hard drive might be the problem because this is TOO EASY!!The product is sturdy, doesn't get hot (accidentally left it on all night) and gets the job done

I suddenly found myself needing an external drive bay for my USB 3.0 supported router that could support either 3.5" or 2.5" drives as needed for 3D Modeling backup

This is a low tech, functional unit that will work in a pinch and is much less expensive than sending the hard drive to a shop to have it transferred to a back up drive

I use it as a 3.5 hard drive, but when my laptop went out I was able to use the 2.5 functionality to get my files

Plan to use some old hard drives for back-up purposes.

My only complaint is that the drive doesn't sleep like many other enclosures do

My one complaint is that since it is not enclosed, the hard drive can just fall out if you are moving it and are not super careful

It is also so sturdy that I just left the hard drive in there when I put it up.

In any event, it's an extremely useful item for anybody who has extra hard drives laying around, and would like to use them as external hard drives

Used it to access photos and videos on a hard drive removed from my old computer.

So easy to just plop the hard drive in it and go

Slip my hard drive into the docking station2

Use it mostly cloning MAC hard drives.

Don't leave your hard drive in this for more than a week, it will collect dust depending on your house.
