The base is wider than most mounts and has the sticky gel built into the suction

My first one the sticky gel on the suction cup melted and drained down my windshield

It worked great until it started getting hot out, then the "extra strong suction cup with sticky gel" melted all over my windshield

I noticed something was running down the inside of my windshield, turns out the sticky gel had melted and was seeping out of the suction cup somehow

It took a good bit of effort to pull the mount from the windshield leaving a glob of the sticky gel behind

The Seller "Sun Valley Tek" gets 5 STARS from me, they are replacing it with a newer model that doesn't use the sticky gel, they were very helpful

The suction cup has very strong stickiness with sticky gel that can adhere to your car’s windshield, dashboard or any other smooth or textured surface (except for curved surfaces or leather surfaces)

It is still mounted on my window, the sticky gel (or the melted suction cup) is drizzling on the windshield
