Second arrived un-damaged but the hot plate switch didn't work

Making a lower than expected review because after only 3 months of very light use (1 pot a day), the warmer plate coating has already become very scratched and rough.

The other things I'll say about it: that percolator arm comes off for easy cleaning, the simple controls (on/off and high/medium hot plate) are nice solid rocker switches.

Unless I have the carafe perfectly centered on the warming plate the coffee will not drip straight in to the downspout in the carafe.

First, it had a hot plate and a glass carafe.

Having used many pots, I've never seen the hot plate so damaged so quickly

The coffee stays good even if I don't drink it right away, the warmer plate keeps it at the perfect temperature.

Somehow it condenses onto the hot plate, though.

Of course, you can remove anytime while coffee is brewing as has drip stop and pot and hot plate will "Auto shut-off" automatically in 1 1/2 hours

Also it seems like Technivorm failed to engineer the bottom of the carafe to fit snug over the inset of the warmer plate so it doesn't move around and stays put

The switches for power and hot plate timing caved in and broke at their fittings.. they repaired all the bits, didn't push the switches in all the way and shipped it back unassembled.

Brews it consistently flavorful every time and also does not burn the coffee as it sits on the warming plate!

The new one works well in its first week, and the warmer plate definitely has a better coating on it and no liquid on the warmer after brewing a pot.

A Moccamaster hot plate can be set to warm at either 175º, or 185º for those who prefer it hot

Although Technivorm says it is alright to keep their glass coffee pot on the warming plate on low without harming the coffee flavor, I put our freshly brewed coffee into our Zojirushi Premium

the carafe is not stable on the warmer which in turn negatively impacts the drip stop feature unless the carafe is sitting centered on the warmer plate.

When the water tank is empty, a float switch prevents the water heater from engaging, so only the hot plate will come on.5

Warmer plate is enameled steel - not the best surface for thin, hot glass that's being pressed under a spring-loaded basket.3.

The purists will warn about continued-cooking effects of the hot plate/glass pot system vs. thermal carafe... however as other reviewers note, the "10 cup" pot is a smallish European-sized, so we rarely have much coffee sitting on the hot plate for long.

One is for brewing, the other is to make the plate that the pot sits on stay hot and keep the coffee warm

I love that the hot plate has two temperature settings.

The warmer plate is fantastic keeps it warm and does not overheat it

so I'm not concerned about it aging on a hot plate.

No confusing dials or switches or LED readouts, just an on-off toggle switch, and another toggle switch for the warmer plate (which I always leave on one setting)

Plus, it is nice for the last cup to be hot rather than merely warm (note that to minimize additional cooking of the coffee, you can adjust the hot plate wattage high/low with the rightmost switch

Now l get excited about buying fresh roasted beans to grind and brew the best, most flavorful coffee l've ever drank

Temp for water is spot on as advertised and the coffee ends up being just as good as if I had made the cup on a pour over or french press.

I'm not sure if it was broken as I was taking it out or it was broken before or broken while taking out the dripper.

n’t get the fresh brew smell to awaken to.
