Not as easy to pick up as the first set of PO's but just as much fun, great lil pocket synth with very big sounds once hooked up to a proper sound system.
Great little synth to create neat classic 80s video game tracks
Musically speaking, it's not the most powerful synth in the world, and it has many limitations (eg you can't do sustained notes, notes are mostly limited to the chord you set the pattern to, everything is cemented into 16 beat sequences)
Having grown tired of my soft synth drum machines I wanted to invest in a hardware analog drum machine
I think it's a really unique product with a great deal of application
They make a silicone case for each model, but they retail at $40, which significantly increases the cost of the device without really providing a great deal of additional protection
Not to mention $60 dollars is a great deal for the amount of time you're going to get out of this!

Using chords numbered 1-16 (each number corresponds to a preset chord, like Dm, Em, Esus, E, F, G, C/G, etc.), you can program a chord progression up to (I believe
I'd recommend the Arcade for instance if someone wants to compose songs while riding the bus, assuming they like early videogame music
The PO-20 Arcade is a super fun and different way to make music,
Teenage Engineering leads the industry in creating electronic music instrument layouts, and their genius is shown wonderfully in their Pocket Operater series, especially this Arcade

The click track syncs pretty well to almost any other synth that can output a click, so it should work in most environments

Best Pocket Operator that I've used (haven't tried Tonic yet though)

I don't think this would have been a very useful device if it were just a static sample player with 16 sounds, but you can actually vary the pitch, aggressiveness, and other qualities of each instrument quite a bit (and automate those changes through a sequence).
This is a great little device complete with all the sounds of nostalgia
Awesome device, be sure to refer to the website for easy to read instructions.
It's an amazing device with great sounds and capability, easily worth 5 stars, however, the instructions are too small to read and too difficult to assimilate
This device, and the fun I immediately had with it, led to me picking up the PO-16 Factory and the PO-20 Arcade
overall really awesome product just got bored with it to fast
I would Totally recommend this product to anyone who is interested in making music
I think the company did a fantastic job creating this really amazing product
The product is amazing however it gets boring after extended use (months) the capabilities are slightly limitited with the sound variation but the chords and drone effect make up for it.
I recommend the additional investment in a protective case because it will do away with your worries about breaking the product - and it makes it look even cooler
These things are so much fun, I got my monies worth but at less than a year and dead how could I recommend this over another well built product?I almost want to buy it
We can try to bend the components with pliers but the flimsy build quality does not inspire much confidence that it will survive.
Even if built-in speaker is clear and loud for what it is
The unit looks flimsy, but it really is pretty well built even without it having any sort of protective case or shell on it
While it looks like a circuit board, it’s incredibly well built and sounds amazing through headphones
Great fun, but there is so much you can do with it and not enough instructions
Not as easy to pick up as the first set of PO's but just as much fun, great lil pocket synth with very big sounds once hooked up to a proper sound system.
This thing is crazy fun
As I stated in the other review, these Pocket Operators are extremely fragile (and, hence, not really "pocket"-friendly), but for only $60 they pack amazing functionality and endless fun into a very affordable package
It's pretty damned fun, but the instructions could be a bit more clear.
A weird thing you have to get used to is how naked it is
So long as you know what you're getting, these things are FUN
If your not really into music, or making music, then this just won't have much use to you—and for the price it's rather expensive as just "a thing to have"
You punch the buttons on this crazy looking computer chip thing, objects on the screen dance to the music, and you're surrounded by crunchy and crisp 8-bit sounds of nostalgia
These things are a pain in the a@@. Sounds is really poor quality
