Reviews around kid (4.56 of 5)

  • Although some of the characters you create face adversity along the way and some may perish the game shows kids and adults what it was like to travel west in the early days.
  • I got this game because I loved it as a kid and I figured, since it's the 5th edition, it would be even better.
  • There is less of a show, also, when you reach oregon city (it actually seems like this version is a bit dumbed down, or something). However, it probably would entertain younger kids because this version is a little simpler, and offers more personalization for the intensity of game you are looking for
  • well i always liked oregon trail when i was younger and prob still like it today but it wont install properly on my computer so
  • I loved this game as a kid and it is still fun even now that I am older.

Reviews around price (4.26 of 5)

  • It was an excellant price and I am ordering another one for a neighbor.
  • My son and I are both very disappointed!Unfortunately, the price I paid isn't worth the hassle of trying to return or else I definitely would!
  • Considering most new games run around $50 we should not be to disappointed since The Learning Company tries to make games geared for the whole family for a reasonable price.
  • well i always liked oregon trail when i was younger and prob still like it today but it wont install properly on my computer so
  • Great purchase, cheap price, and good quality.

Reviews around lot (4.16 of 5)

  • It was a fun game with great music, detailed art, decent animation and voice acting, as well as a lot of historical information.
  • You can play Oregon Trail without the CD which seems to correct a lot of the problems with install and running properly
  • This game brings back a lot of memories thanks so much for the item I bought from you ttfn laters
  • Unfortunately, the wagon fell down a hill several times, losing most everything out of the wagon in the process and breaking a lot of the wagon.
  • He plays it a lot and really enjoys the challenging obstacles the pioneers have to overcome

Reviews around fish (4.16 of 5)

  • If the game was stable and fishing was more straight-forward (and worked) the game would actually be enjoyable to play.
  • It is almost exactly the same, with a few great updates (the fishing and gathering options, as well as the story of the Montgomery family).
  • In this Oregon Trail you can once again chose how many you will travel with and name them (for some crazy reason this feature was eliminated in the 4th Oregon Trail edition), but you can also CHOOSE the times you stop to collect wild fruit or fish, instead of these circumstances just happening randomly (which does not make as much sense).
  • well i always liked oregon trail when i was younger and prob still like it today but it wont install properly on my computer so
  • We love this game so much that we play it as a family...the little one hunts and fishes, the older one buys supplies and treats diseases.

Reviews around graphic (3.95 of 5)

  • I usually ignore people who have installation issues as I am quite experienced in debugging simple install problems
  • Yes, the music and videos are annoying, but it's just as fun and goofy as I remember
  • Both my son & I started playing Version 1 (which is great for kids), but the graphics aren't great.
  • well i always liked oregon trail when i was younger and prob still like it today but it wont install properly on my computer so
  • Not great graphics or heart racing action but fun game based on planning and efficient use of resources

Reviews around play (3.75 of 5)

  • I loved playing this years ago, and it was still really entertaining now
  • I usually ignore people who have installation issues as I am quite experienced in debugging simple install problems
  • Also, one of your party(people coming along with you) may get sick, and you'll need to treat them as well as you can
  • My daughter really enjoys playing this game and we enjoy playing with her
  • She was thrilled and has really enjoyed playing with it

Reviews around thing (3.49 of 5)

  • This is a wonderful game used to enjoy it on my xp thus wanted it for my vista it sits collecting dust due to the lost things for
  • Other things, like a piano, are wasted if you buy them bc they are virtually worthless on the trail and add a lot of useless weight
  • It explains things like oxen are better for pulling than horses and you should buy vinegar bc it prevents scurvy
  • There were a few nice things in this version, you can fish and gather certain types of berries and herbs
  • and I learned a few things also, such as the advantages and disadvantages of various draught animals, the pace of travel so as not to overwork the animals, the type of wagon most suitable for the trail, etc.

Reviews around money (3.44 of 5)

  • I was so pleased to see Version 5 on the shelf, and so incredibly irritated that I had wasted my money once I had loaded it!!
  • So if you have a new mac, don't waste your money unless 1) you really, really want this game, 2
  • I wasted money on this product.

Reviews around version (3.17 of 5)

  • I read several reviews (unfortunately after my purchase) that talked about the program (version 4 mostly) crashing.
  • The original Oregon Trail was lots more fun - this version has whole scenes with animation and u can't bypass - is boring
  • Though I would prefer the original version with the Apple Computer, this game holds up its name.
  • Just like my favorite version, #2, but with an added story.
  • I was very disappointed that this version of Oregon Trail, 5th Edition, does NOT work on a new Mac (10.5 or above) because it lacks the font needed

Reviews around time (2.09 of 5)

  • Unfortunately, the wagon fell down a hill several times, losing most everything out of the wagon in the process and breaking a lot of the wagon.
  • I recommend this for someone who ddoesnt mind losing all the time
  • One friend in particular would die every time of disentary.
  • He enjoyed the chance to play it again, this time with more realistic graphics in the 5th version.
  • A few things have been updated, particularly some aspects concerning Native Americans and some geography, but the good times still keep rolling.
