but I suggest a group of 6-7 or more if you would like to play with the other characters
Regardless, with the right group of people, this game is absolutely amazing.
This game has extreme replay value with the right group of people.
The game does require a larger group to play and works best with people who actively want to discuss and engage in deductive reasoning.
My group really enjoys this game and we play it for hours at a time!We liked this one better than the original Avalon because the characters fit better together and compliment each other a lot better
Literally the best board game I have ever played, out of hundreds
It is fun to pretend to be these characters in one game and in thirty minutes play another game and be someone else...maybe Merlin!
And if a good ~25 plays is enough for you before you lose interest, well... this game is only $15.The problem is, unlike most bluffing games, this one deals with a surplus of facts
Word of warning, if played right, it can be quite intense.
This game is one of the best party games I've ever played
so my friends and I love this game -- we have now played for 2 nights for about 2 hours each night and every game is different -- we laugh and have a good time -- depending on the number of players it is different each time -- the more players (up to ten) the better
I played the original Resistance at lunch with friends a few times, and enjoyed it so much that I wound up buying both the original version and this one
That way everyone can play with a clear conscience and have a good time
The dynamic of the participants is important and this game can be a heck of a good time.
It would take too much valuable time to deceive you and to say this is an actually good game.
Good must play successes for the quests they are on, but evil may play success or fail
IF THIS STEP IS REPEATED 5 CONSECUTIVE TIMES, THE MINIONS WIN.-Players on team (if approved) are given 1 success & 1 fail card.
Good must play successes for the quests they are on, but evil may play success or fail
My only knock on the game is that the Success/Failure cards are a little too similar for my tastes (A stronger contrasting image between the success and failure), and that it doesn't have enough 'roles' to really justify purchasing this game if you've already bought the Resistance
If the vote passes then members of the team are given a "success" and "failure" card, which they have to chose one to lay (good can only lay success, evil can lay success or failure).
Throughout is intense discussion, accusations, and deception - you won't be able to trust your friends after a few rounds
But if you are OK with that, it's a great game and you can really learn how to figure out your friends when they lie to you
Deep game with great replay value, but be prepared to lose some friends

I wish I could play it nonstop, but unfortunately I've back-stabbed my friends too many times in this game and now no one will play with me
It has an advantage over similar hidden role type games likes mafia or werewolf in that there is no player elimination, so everyone stays involved until the end
This game is quite similar but without player elimination and with more opportunities to deceive and be deceived
This is a fun character deduction game in the vein of Mafia or Werewolf, but without the player elimination.
If ever a game had the potential to pack an incredible social game experience in a box, The Resistance is exactly that - a superb social game, very similar in feel to the well-known Mafia or Werewolf, but arguably better because there is more deduction and no player elimination
