Wood split on second use

What you see is really what you get... flimsy wood and wires.

The connectors are all plastic and the wood is exceptionally flimsy

Poor packaging caused brackets to come apart and wood to split in two different places

Solid wood, I have not had any trouble with it leaving marks on the walls

However, we used it one time and the metal piece on the bottom of it snapped off, the wood actually split off to be more specific

The new one is plastic (and possibly also the wood seems less dense) so when attempting to lock in place it catches on the wood making it impossible to slide down without two hands pulling each section of gate apart to fit in place.

The problem is the arms are made out of really dry, flimsy wood

Good strong gate only problem is the wood doesn't feel completely sanded down not

The wood in middle of one end of the gate had spontaneously split in half while it was in use, leaving two very sharp pointed wood edges and a screw exposed

This means you have to take a little care aligning the clasp every time you lower the bar...otherwise the hardware just bumps into the wood and could bend the hardware or mar the wood if you are not careful.

Cheap wood, cheap plastic connecters, not sturdy.

Also the wood smells bad and made my apartment smell very strange

I measured my door opening to the nearest half-inch, set the metal hook at that spot on the wood bar, and lowered the top wood bar until it clipped onto the lower one.

However, if your pet/child likes to chew, the relatively soft unfinished wood won't stay new-looking for very long.

The frame is made of what appears to be a semi hard wood.

The wood is flimsy, and the connection point of the gate and arms flexes and torques menacingly when the gate is installed with a typical amount of tension

not like the old construction with the nice smooth wood and metal brackets.
