I did break the original strap after about 6 months of use and purchased a knock off replacement that doesn't fit as nicely as the original, but it's not bad and we'll see how long it holds up.

My older model included an optical sensor from Mio which is very highly regarded and I found to be just as accurate as the chest strap

If you go online or on your phone to the "app" for it, it charts your heart rate on a graph throughout the day as well as during workouts
