Reviews around tech support (4.65 of 5)

  • Again, tech support was unable to fix with changes to the wireless config multiple times
  • Tech support tried to help but it was just a bad unit/bad product.
  • I did it myself without having to call for tech support.
  • Logged a call with tech support and they said I could RMA the
  • I've been on their supposedly 24/7 tech support for forever.

Reviews around setup (4.64 of 5)

  • I don't know too much about IT stuff but setup was easy
  • Very easy setup and offers all the settings control I could want.
  • Setup wasn't as bad as I thought it would be
  • As a replacement for an existing separate Surfboard and router on the Comcast network, setup was easy
  • It has simple and advanced modes to allow novice users to set common parameters, but it provides advanced settings for more complex setups

Reviews around price (4.64 of 5)

  • Good price, delivered on time, works perfect with xfinity.
  • After researching for days, and bearing in mind about the suggestions that separate units of modem and router might perform better in some case, I decided to try this TP-link modem-router because of some very good reviews and a good price
  • I think the CR700 is an excellent product at a very good price
  • I just lost the price of the router modum.

Reviews around tv (4.61 of 5)

  • My wireless devices (1 desktop computer, laptop (both Apple), 3 Xbox One's and a PS4 and my Vizio Smart TV) was able to connect with no issues
  • With 8 Wifi devices, 3 computers, 2 smart Tv's and 2 PS4's on the network, we don't have any problems like we did on the previous set up
  • Wireless works perfectly with my Smart TV, PC's/laptops and Android devices.
  • You set it up and start logging onto wifi with each device, 3 smart phones, two laptops, the desk top, the Surface, 3 smart tv's, and then the direct tv modem
  • I have limited basic tv out of basic limited local necessity & performance internet which is 3x the cost of limited basic tv.

Reviews around work (4.61 of 5)

  • I bought 2 routers one works fine the other "died" in a month.
  • so well I had to purchase a simple Belkin router that is working great for my LAN.I now need to use this expensive modem in bridge mode and can't even get that working
  • TP-Link is shipping out modems with known bugs in the firmware and they want to charge me extra to exchange it in a timely fashion? The modem works great other than the issues mentioned above and if you don't need port forwarding then this will probably work fine for you
  • I bought 2 routers one works fine the other "died" in a month.
  • Works fine second one first one has been working for over a year and is still up and running.

Reviews around speed (4.30 of 5)

  • After using the TP-700 for several hours, despite a slow initial speed test, it performs at least twice that of my former Motorola modem.
  • Our internet provider upgraded the internet to high speed services earlier this year, so I had to replace my old modem and router to enjoy the new internet speeds
  • I have the 300 Mbps internet plan and get consistent "hardwire" speeds.
  • Another possibility is that we may have poor speeds from ISP Comcast
  • You just give this to your internet service provider and voila, time warping fast blazing internet speed

Reviews around design (4.10 of 5)

  • This is a slick looking design and would look good anywhere
  • It could be a huge problem and vulnerability in this product (e,g, what if there's a security bug in the router
  • Aside from security and a failing 5G radio, the UI is clunky and is missing advanced features
  • Do yourself a favor -- Don't support a lousy company designing a sub-par product, with "technical support" that amounts to a warm body answering a phone to in order to help the clueless figure out a web-UI.
  • Nice compact design easy to read display on front of modem/router

Reviews around range (3.97 of 5)

  • The 2.4 wifi is about the same as before, the 5G actually works with this modem unlike the stock and is very fast
  • It works good as a cable modem; however, as a wireless router, it drops connection constantly every day, either 2.4G or 5G band.
  • It could be a huge problem and vulnerability in this product (e,g, what if there's a security bug in the router

Reviews around product (3.59 of 5)

  • But I figured I would be getting a better product for the money.
  • Anyway... horrible product and will not be purchasing from them again!!!
  • Like other reviews here state, I'm stuck with a faulty product that TP-LINK won't address.

Reviews around signal (3.57 of 5)

  • I've had this for a while and still very happy with the strong signal.
  • My unit is in the basement and yet all devices connected with Wi-Fi upstairs never have a weak signal
  • Aside from security and a failing 5G radio, the UI is clunky and is missing advanced features
  • We do not have a large house (1 story, 1600 sqft) and our cable connection is on the wall farthest from our living area, but signal should still have been strong and was not.

Reviews around device (3.46 of 5)

  • many wi-fi enabled smart devices in the home, and it worked fine for everything except my wi-fi enabled robot vacuum (Neato Botvac D3)
  • Works fine for normal use, but seems to have issues with some of my smart devices

Reviews around router (3.45 of 5)

  • I really liked the router otherwise, but it did not work for me.

Reviews around modem (3.41 of 5)

  • The modem freezes up every time you try and set up port forwarding
  • Simply an awesome modem and router combo that does what you want it to do.
  • I originally bought a modem router which I hate to say, but an Amazon technical person said would work with Mediacom, and then when I got it, found that Mediacom said it was on their do not buy list
  • It works as a cable modem and it has a good looking web interface and that's about it

  • please save yourselves a headache and do not try to buy this router/modem, the port forwarding does not work, every time I try and click on the option all it does is goes on a blank page, drops the internet, and you are left to restart the modem every time, also customer service is really impossible to get them to help you on any type of problem, and if you do get a customer service representative to help you they keep transferring you over and over

Reviews around reservation (2.54 of 5)

  • It remained compatible when the local cable changed from Time Warner to Spectrum and the base speeds adjusted from 20mb/s to
  • It is absurd that this modem/router combo does not support address reservation, which give you capability to assign fixed internal ip to connected device
  • I also used wifi analyzer apps to determine the best channel(s) to manually select in order to reduce/eliminate contention
  • The CR700 firmware release I tested didn’t yet support DHCP “Address Reservation”
  • The administration page for the local network has a local DHCP range, but it does not allow for static dhcp reservations like most other routers do, which means that you can't set specific IPs for devices

Reviews around connection (2.16 of 5)

  • Slow, unreliable, lost connection to wifi and cabled connection
  • The password for the router was on the bottom of the router and when it booted up it had 2 connections available
  • I bought this because I was told it gives a more secure and reliable connection which is necessary for online gaming
  • Every time I turn around one or two of my echoes have lost their connection

Reviews around model (1.54 of 5)

  • I use comcast and wanted this to avoid cable clutter, I suppose it is time to look for a better model.
  • Time Warner has an approved cable modem model list and a unsupported model list, and this model was not on either list, but I called Time Warner and with just the MAC number printed on the bottom of the modem, they were able to activate this cable modem on my service in under 10 minutes
  • Midcontinent doesn't support this model as a modem/router in one, so I just used my old router.

Reviews around ip (1.54 of 5)

  • I find this rather annoying, as I like my computers to have consistent IP addresses instead of randomly changing ones
  • Works great, but I've not found a single option to set a static ip which has caused problems with my printer...
  • It does not even support binding a static IP to a MAC address
  • The Windows Troubleshooter says that the "device has an invalid IP address" or some nonsense, but resolves the issue each time.
