This is the perfect solution for having "permanent" yet flexible, affordable storage in a MacBook
I'm familiar with the max transfer rates for USB 2.0 (about 30-40MBs) but unfortunately my write speed is hovering around a MUCH slower 8MB/s.
This is very inconvenient since I can't use the SD card to store frequently accessed documents/data unless I remember to disable sleep and hibernate the Macbook by default, which is a clumsy solution
Very good solution for extending the MacBook Air storage with an SSD
Perfect solution to storage problem--fits flush, high speed, great price.
The note in description of "Late 2010, Mid 2011, and Mid 2012 MacBook Air models have reduced performance due to the card reader only supporting up to USB 2.0 transfer speeds
on my JetDrive while keeping only systems file (both Mac and Win7) on SSD.Now, i don't have to worry about space, as well as freeing up SSD has improved MBA performance overall
It has ver good performance is comparison to microSD cards.
Unfortunately it does have limitations as to what can be stored on it
simply good enough, fits well, performance such as speed according to specs.
Unfortunately it does have limitations as to what can be stored on it
Increased the storage of my MacBook Air by 50%, delaying the purchase of an expensive new machine.
Awesome really like having the extra storage of double my MacBook Air ssd
Love the extra storage, I originally bought this drive when I only had a 128gb drive in my macbook air, but I then upgraded to a 512gb hdd and still use it
I'm familiar with the max transfer rates for USB 2.0 (about 30-40MBs) but unfortunately my write speed is hovering around a MUCH slower 8MB/s.
Good for extra storage if you like me only have the standard 128gb in your Air
I dumped a 132GB Apple photos library on it, no problems.
My 128GB JD Lite unmounts when my MBAir is put to sleep and worse yet, video and document settings are lost and must be reselected each time it's pulled out and reinserted
128GB should be enough for basic laptop computing like saving documents and pictures
- this gives me 128GB of storage - fits in Macbook Air SD slot - perfectly slots in - nothing protrudes, perfect.
Well the fine print says that "*Late 2010, Mid 2011, and Mid 2012 MacBook Air models have reduced performance due to the card reader only supporting up to USB 2.0 transfer speeds."That is the largest understatement I've ever seen.
the speed of this drive is really limited by the SD card port
Although I think the writing speed is kind of slower than it claims, it is still a excellent product.
Speed is good enough, and not hanging out of MacBook air is the best...
Looking at the specs the write speed is slower than a 5400 rpm HD but for anyone wanting to run programs off of the drive, it should be fine as long as you format it to Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
It's OK, speed is not so fantastic as for internal SSD but good enough for not so critical
Work as it describe, plug in and work straight out from the box
Unfortunately it does have limitations as to what can be stored on it
However, I'm constantly getting "disk not ejected properly" warnings to the point that the card is worthless to me (even if I didn't mind the warnings I'm not going to risk corrupting my photo library.!)
Since the Photos and iPhotos apps store all your files in one package, your entire library can conveniently get corrupted all at once
While it works as it should ,t eh battery drain is quite pronounced
It's OK, speed is not so fantastic as for internal SSD but good enough for not so critical
Pricey, but does what it says, and I had no problem auto mounting and un-mounting, so no problems there, no messages going into and out of sleep mode (with OSX El Capitan).
Just make sure to install the JetDrive Toolbox to prevent the improper removal message every time the computer goes to sleep.
I don't have to worry about connecting to my external drive as I've got this little item ready and waiting, as well as to hold extra media such as music or videos.
Hi I just checked the data transfer rate using Black Magic Disk Test and it gave me
I left it as ExFAT and due to this the files take up much more room on the JetDrive than on my hard disk; 40 gig of files ended up taking 70 gig of space on the JetDrive.
I have a 2011 MacBook with only 128 GB of hard disk space.
solved the problem of never enough hard disk space on my macbook air.
Purchased Feb 2017 worked well as a backup disk for Time Machine in my MacBook Air mid 2011 for a few months.
I comes format with the FAT file system, but since it is meant to stay in the
I keep files on this drive that are more important than the stuff I keep in the cloud "just in case", but less critical than the operating system level stuff on the SSD
Windows cannot view HFS+, OS X had issues with NTFS so this is a great file format for both operating systems
My only complaint is it just overwrites files, so previous copies are not available unless you save them under a different file name.
The only issue I had was that it came preformatted as extfat, which is the best file system.
but i get a pop up every 5 mins that the card has been ejected improperly and is annoying....not really worth the hassle...also makes your macbook crash several times...
I have a hard enough time getting it out once I put it in, which is a good thing.10/16 - I have been using this for over a year now and have no complaints.
(700Mb movie files.)Many people have problems with it being ejected every time you wake from sleep, I had a similar
Every time I insert it while my macbook is on, it fails to recognize or mount it
If you are looking for an easy Time Machine backup drive, you won't find anything more convenient than this
To start off the company does not respond to issues via email or phone
It's great and does exactly what it says it will, to the point where it can be very hard to actually get it out of your laptop
When the TRASCEND 256 GB card is inserted, and after several applications are open in a MacBook Air lap top, it "FREEZES THE COMPUTER" and does not respond to any command
The jet drive toolbox is useless and does absolutely nothing to resolve the issue
