Reviews around instrument (5.00 of 5)

  • This doesn't break the instrument or mess with anything as it is an easy operation to make
  • After all that struggle I sat and thought, this is a good instrument but for what it is worth, unless I was unlucky and got a defective one, I'm bored
  • This is a great instrument initially so it started at 5 stars
  • let’s me use the 3rd valve trigger to adjust my C# s etc just fine
  • However, where the G is supposed to be, is actually a slightly sharp F# (concert E)

Reviews around design (5.00 of 5)

  • I like the overall design down to how the caps are clamped on.
  • However, where the G is supposed to be, is actually a slightly sharp F# (concert E)
  • let’s me use the 3rd valve trigger to adjust my C# s etc just fine
  • The spit valves look to be well-designed with rubber seals.
  • If Tromba develops and improve the design they could change the paradigm of plastic over brass as the standard for the best flugelhorn.

Reviews around way (5.00 of 5)

  • WAY easier to make this sound nice than the Conn 16E.
  • For its purpose, the occasional Flugel player, this is a very affordable way to get that sound.
  • When you first get it, give the valves and valve sleeves a good cleaning (there is a good instructional video on YouTube) and oiling and it will greatly improve the way the horn plays

Reviews around metal (5.00 of 5)

  • The valves are metal and work smoothly, and the tone is nice.
  • I use a Denis Wick 2FL mouthpiece rather than the one supplied (though that one is metal not bad, just not as deep as the 2FL)
  • However, where the G is supposed to be, is actually a slightly sharp F# (concert E)

  • Great horn, Tromba!

Reviews around bag (5.00 of 5)

  • And the top line f and g were impossible to tune
  • for a day it was the most fun i have had since i was a little kid...then a day later, the valves are hopelessly sticky and frozen and it is unplayable and the zipper on the cool gig bag only last a few hours.
  • In the package I received were the silver flugel, a black soft bag, a metal mouthpiece (silver plated, deep-V copy of a Wick 4FL according to my caliper readings), extra springs, 2 cleaning worm brushes, cloth, and a couple other nondescript items).

Reviews around bite (5.00 of 5)

  • However, where the G is supposed to be, is actually a slightly sharp F# (concert E)
  • The pitch slotting is acceptable in all ranges (although the upper range is a bit squirrely like on many flugels).
  • The sound is great, a bit stuffy but great

Reviews around fact (5.00 of 5)

  • I like the fact that it has metal-to-metal piston and cylinder surfaces and the valve action is smooth but a little clanky.
  • let’s me use the 3rd valve trigger to adjust my C# s etc just fine

Reviews around thing (5.00 of 5)

  • For the price, this thing is great.
  • Might replace the rubber washers under the valve caps with felt ones to quiet things down.
  • And the top line f and g were impossible to tune

Reviews around sound (3.95 of 5)

  • I am impressed with the price point, and have made some very pretty (and mellow) sounds on it thus far.
  • I've noticed that from (concert Bb middle to around just a little above Bb above middle or low C to just above staff notes) is a nice sound and can be in pitch.
  • The sound is great, a bit stuffy but great
  • I do recommend practicing pitches with your lips and mouth piece before attempting this horn because that's what's gonna get the sound to be correct.
  • Nice sound but valves are kinda noisy.
