I would recommend this radio to people who are new to ham, as a good introductory radio, as the price is moderately inexpensive, and you are able to atleast get solid communications with it.

Very good audio quality on both FM and digital operation.
The audio quality is good, battery lasts all day, and it feels like a much more expensive radio in your hand
I recommend downloading the most current version of the programming software from Tytera's web site instead of using the included CD.In operation, the audio quality is very good for both transmit and receive.

The audio is great so long as the user's voice phonetics are accurately produced by the other end.

The MD-380 works well for what it is, but it'll never beat a Motorola!
