I love these things— I ding off one star because it is really, really difficult to get these things off once attached

The best thing to do once you get your units adopted is to research the best "radio" settings (channels, power) to transmit faster internet

but I had to reboot the darn thing twice a week until it died after 2 years

AMAZING!!!!One other thing to mention...in many of the YouTube videos showing these devices in use, they will talk about adding additional hardware like a Cloud Key or Security Gateway (USG) from Ubiquity, but I can confirm you DONT need to buy them for these AP's to work

We have several laptops, phones, tablets, cameras, as well as a few IOT things that use wifi.

I can ssh to the damn thing and reset hostname, hosts files

This signal booster is already a second purchase, and good things should be praised!

Just fired this thing up and so far I like it.

The only thing I wish they would do is dim the led ring at night because it's way too bright and lights up a whole room (I know you can turn it off but still....)

I upgraded from the old green light Unifi AP and this thing is way faster

Part of the possible confusion is that the management interface is designed to manage multiple devices (APs, switches, etc), which isn't a bad thing if you need this capability, but can confuse users that haven't dealt with this sort of management capability in the past.

Something that they did seems to have caused this problem, and the bad thing is, once a unit is updated with the newer firmware, you can't downgrade it to get rid of the dropping issue.

But here's the cool thing: it has a completely open Busybox on Linux, and you can configure the AP however you want that way by just logging in via SSH

The great thing about these access points is it will AUTOMATICALLY switch between 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands based on how close you are and other factors to give you the best signal.

I'm so happy to finally have a commercial-grade Wi-Fi system that's as solid and reliable as I want it to be.

I have a couple laptops that only support B/G/N that still had issues, but replaced the wifi in them with USB 802.11ac cards and they also work fantastically now

Both 2.4 and 5G work great

the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it insists on fixing on a very weak 5g channel even though I configured it to something else.

No bandsteering so most of the clients connect to the slower 2g and not the AC enabled 5g.

This thing supports dual 2.4/5G and 802.11ac and has extremely powerful radios, so it is an excellent choice for a modern home network -- for example, using Sonos devices for streaming high quality audio with no lag

I have always used Cisco and Aruba products and tried this and all I can say is WOW what an awesome platform and along with the Unifi controller it gives an amazing g amount of onsite into your networK/RF environment and it keeps getting better with every firmware update I keep getting more

so I ended up just disabling the 2g radio entirely to force 5g from that AP

I was looking more for a stronger 5G so picked up a 2nd one to fill in the gaps

5G signal is somewhat lacking in strength but the 2G seems solid
