Just got this today for a 8 hour road trip from Central PA to Cincinnati OH, and it's my first radar detector after doing loads of research for the most affordable best quality detector, and the dfr7 seemed to be way up there

Works really well and after researching other products this one seems to be about the best value you can get for the money.
Previously I have recommended Whistler products as giving the best value, and the Whistler line is still as good as it was before the introduction of the Uniden LRD 950, which has been replaced with this new rebadged model at a higher price

I didn't get the actual distance on the city speeding trap, but both the Uniden and RAD450 were equal distances and gave enough warning to slow down
The old unit gave maybe enough warning
While the Whistler products usually give adequate warning of police radar, the Unidens give significantly more range and are far more sensitive to threats where the police radar is pointed at an angle to your line of travel or the opposite direction instead of directly at your oncoming vehicle.
