The Road Devil was a bit louder, but lacked the clarity of the Uniden mic (but only slightly/not enough to matter).

Your best bet is to stick with stock or use a power mic like the Astatic Road Devil or D104 which will get the audio up loud enough for the radio

I tested the stock mic, an old RK56, and a new Astatic Road Devil.

I have an external speaker that I'm going to mount and hook up as it's sometimes hard to hear the unit inside the console.
