Reviews around tone (5.00 of 5)

  • Gives clean, clear tone, not especially dark or overly bright
  • I had to work to get used to this ligature, using the intermediate, number 2, pressure plate, in order to produce a good quality tone, but found that, with this practice, I could get a better tone out of most of my reeds than I had achieved with other ligatures
  • the ligature is the best i have used ,has a good tone and is easy to
  • This is not a cheap ligature, but it is very good responds, tone, and best of all a better sound.
  • I'm still a relatively beginner self-taught player, and I've been struggling off and on for many years trying to get a smooth tone without squeaks or hisses

Reviews around product (5.00 of 5)

  • The Vandoren Optimum line of ligatures are great products,, But it would have been nice to receive the proper size for the mouthpiece as that the one I received could not be used because it was the right size for the mouthpiece
  • Vandoren has a great product here,it makes reeds do their job better but the gilding or gold finish is not holding up well after only a few weeks
  • excellent product, I am very satisfied and happy, I recommend
  • I think it's a great product - for the sheer convenience of inserting & positioning the reed

Reviews around reed (5.00 of 5)

  • The three pressure plates can be interchanged to suit various reeds often turning fair reeds into good reeds.
  • It took me about a week to get used to the slightly different way of playing and to figure out which reed to use (the reed I used on my regular mouthpiece seemed to play too harshly with the Optimum ligature). Now, with the Optimum ligature and the right reed in the right position, I'm finding that I can actually play the clarinet quite well
  • Incredibly easy to use, gives you assurance your reed is well positioned.
  • I've been playing clarinet for a while, and the Vandoren 5JB mouthpiece (with the Optimum ligature) made a huge difference to the ease of playing (along with getting the right reed, of course). Then I started to play the sax

Reviews around blow (5.00 of 5)

  • I love the different ligature plates, it gives me some flexibility in my sound free-blowing
  • It's so easy blowing but still maintains the same color and darkness a clarinetist strives for

Reviews around design (5.00 of 5)

  • It's a rock solid, well engineered, well designed (and, in my opinion, required) clarinet accessory.

Reviews around screw (5.00 of 5)

  • The way the ligature holds on with just one screw is convenient.
  • I love ligature with just one screw, very easy to adjust at the middle of a gig or lesson
  • The fact that the single screw makes it so much easier to adjust and try out different reed positions is a minor but important bonus

Reviews around plate (3.95 of 5)

  • The effect of the 3 different pressure plates is subtle, but I prefer the 3rd plate.
  • I am ordering a second ligature so that I can keep one with the number 3 plate installed, and one with the number 2 plate installed
  • I may do more experimenting with the number 1 plate, but so far have found it to produce too constricted a tone
  • I love the different ligature plates, it gives me some flexibility in my sound free-blowing
  • Love the interchangeable plates, you can get any combo of tone/playability you want

Reviews around rubber (1.00 of 5)

  • In time to come, the rubber will disintegrate and the cap will become kinda sticky (my M/O ligature came with the same kind of cap).
  • I order a ligature for a hard rubber baritone saxophone mouthpiece and received a ligature that appears to be for a contra bass cl mouthpiece.
  • so I decided to purchase a Vandoren Optimum for my hard rubber Otto Link
  • Anyone know if the Vandoren MO will fit over an early 2000's hard rubber Otto Link?
