SO yes this case is just OK not GREAT as expected from Vantec.

I replaced my hatachi 500 gb mac hard drive and put it inside this case but the first one didn't work

I did see how it would fit without the metal casing and saw that it would be a bit too loose for my liking, so I made it work with the metal casing on

No problems, but if you had a hard drive you really liked or one that you bought, I said you can spend your money on something a bit more reliable looking.

As other mentioned there is not much support for the disk and also I found the micro usb plug a bit loose (hence it's easy to get disconnected when relocating the drive across your desk for example)
