Although time will tell, with first use this is an excellent external ssd
I had intended to use it as a backup drive, but my old hard drive only has 15 GB of space left, so I'll find out soon how durable this new SSD will be as an active drive for my daily applications.
I only wish its form factor could have been made smaller like some SanDisk SSD are.
Well, it's an SSD, all of SSDs are pricier than magnetic disk counterparts
It took forever and then finally stopped, with a highest transfer rate of 50-60 mb and not steady.
and I can say is that it's excellent, I get really high speed transfers and am able to run my virtual machines from this drive just as fast as when they were local (I have a Mac with SSD, but only 512GB)
Fast transfer speeds over USB 3.0, no issues with connecting to the multiple computers in my house running both Windows 10 and MacOS Sierra (I did have to reformat the drive from NTFS to XFAT for the Mac to be able to use it properly, but that's standard for all removable media), and small enough to fit in my backpack pocket and ride along with me for business trips
Was disappointed that there was not a greater time savings on my larger file backups, but other factors may have contributed to this.
I have WoW installed on the drive and it has drastically improved my load screen times and reduced my lag during graphic intensive world boss kills
I can also say that this drive is VERY light, I don't have experience with other SDD external drives, but compared to my traditional 3.5" external HDDs, I was pleasantly surprised, since it already feels like I'm carrying rocks in my backpack every time I travel.
Easy to setup on my Xbox One S, specifically purchased this drive do to slow load time on Battlefield 1.
While solid state hard drives are a bit pricier than mechanical hard drives, I got tired of losing data
I already was using a solid state drive for a game console that makes massive difference in speed when navigating player menus
After reading the reviews for similar solid state hard drives made by both of the big names (which surprisingly were not too good, structural issues? jacks falling out? seriously?).
It's physical size is not as small as other external solid state drives like the ones from Samsung and Sandisk, but it's cheaper per gigabyte compared to the products of the aforementioned companies
That said solid state memory is much more durable than disk drive memory and much faster
