After a rather finicky wifi set-up and then downloading the firmware update the Vobot seems to work well

The Vobot can be triggered from the web site so that's someone of a work around for not having a wake word, but it's not ideal.

I'll admit that my Vobot did have an issue with updating the first time and I had to reach out to customer support.

I find that they constantly improve Vobot through firmware update, which is good

The Vobot has the added advantage of being able to set an alarm to wake to a radio station which the Echo devices currently cannot do and there are plenty of display customisation options under the settings

Actually I'm not sure the exact purpose of the web site other than set up as it seems like the Amazon Alexa app can control the Vobot.

Vobot states they want to add support for voice activation in the future, but I suspect doing so will severely impact battery life (as it did the Tap) which may be why it wasn't already added.4

The vobot smart clock is missing critical features/components.

We are enjoying the Vobot as part of our Alexa-enabled home

There's very little that it really shows other than a microphone, a bar graph for music, the time/date/day on 3 separate screens (which it would be nice if the Vobot compact view that showed date and time came back, but I don't see it here), and a set of eyes that don't seem to correspond to any activity that makes sense at first glance

After several weeks of pointing out bugs to vobot customer service and having them release numerous firmware updates, I finally ended up with a usable device
