Whistler XTR-130 Laser Radar Detector: 360 Degree Protection, Icon Display, and Tone Alerts

    • As someone who goes only 5-10 MPH at most over the speed limit, I wanted something that would give me a heads-up about speed traps -- and thus far, this detector has met my expectations
    • I got this primarily for my travels through small towns to avoid the speed traps and it has worked great!
    • This thing is great - a little sensitive at times, but already saved me two tickets from speed traps in unusual places in a week
    • I got two alerts and slowed down just in case and both alerts were real and came on well before I drove past the speed trap
    • I have owned this for over a year now, and have avoided over 10 speed traps
    • Today, I drove through a town that is a well-known speed trap
    • Used it on a long road trip and detected just about everything and helped us avoid speed traps!
    • The Whistler Laser/Radar Detector has been very reliable in alerting us to potential speed traps as we have traveled down the highways; I am very pleased with it so far!!
    • There were scattered false alarms from the automatic doors (switching to City II mode, which doesn't detect X-band -- more on that later -- helps cut these false alarms), but a quick burst of the K/Ka alert gave me a 1/2 mile warning about a cop car tucked away in a speed trap.
    • Helps you monitor speed and keeps you alert for speed traps
    • It picked up the usual drug store automatic doors as noted in other reviews, but there aren't usually any speed traps that I drive past.
    • Sometimes it might beep and reach two bars, other times one bar, other times three bars, but NEVER early enough for me to actually slow down in time to avoid the speed trap
    • It usually starts beeping once I actually pass a speed trap, and even then it isn't consistent
    • For years I periodically used the very expensive wireless version because the dangling-wire options did not add anything to the new car interior view...but that all changed when I decided to run an experiment on a very boring long-stretch, open-road, speed-trap infested 100-mile trip which always triggered a series of alarms that are only less painful than my wife's objections to the "noisy things", but that's another story since I have long gone deaf in the right ear
    • But it's come through for me plenty of times against speed trap whores
    • Haven’t hit any speed traps yet though!!
    • and I was able to slow down before coming upon the speed trap that I could not see until the last minute
    • I use the detector solely for purposes of avoiding speed traps, not to speed.
    • Today I went trough a speed trap with 6 police cars and one officer pointing the radar gun directly at my car and the detector never went off.
    • Cheap radar that works well, saved me and friends from about 5 tickets in 2 weeks because cops in my area changed speed trap spots without us knowing
    • But the XTR-145 does provide a little more cushion and advance warning about many imminent speed traps.
    • Will definitely keep you out of speed traps
    • We saw cops four times during this road trip setting up speed traps and EVERY SINGLE TIME his detector would pick up their signal and this detector would be completely silent
    • Now that I have a unit that will show me the cops everywhere I can travel without worrying about speed traps
    • My only complaint about this specific unit is that the periscope light is not as bright as on other Whistler models.
    • JUST REMEMBER IF YOU LIKE A
    • fast shippng will buy from selldr abiam.seems to work as it should great price
    • It alerted almost as well as the much more costly one I am used to using, and easily picked up on stationary and moving radar/laser, as well as on all the speed cameras
