I have not taken the unit apart, but it seems that two parts of the internal mechanism (perhaps folds of wire?) extend out just a bit too far, so that when the stainless steel walls were installed, these two spots pushed outward.

The unit is primarily stainless steel, and when I unpackaged the unit, I noticed that there were two areas on the front of the unit where the stainless steel was poked OUTWARD.

In construction we did find that the Cuisinart's outside black case is less prone to showing fingerprints than the brushed stainless steel on the Whynter, so a plus in that category.

Somewhat disappointed that an otherwise 5 star rating product can only be given a 4 star rating due to the front stainless steel panel having a noticeable bulge that appears to have been created from undue pressure on the front causing the panel to press down on the internal machinery resulting in the bulge.
