My daughter has dabbled with the violin for a year or two as a hobby, but not seriously enough to justify buying an expensive instrument, so this was a good choice for her at home practice
This MI-1006 Full Size Violin from Windsor is a surprisingly good quality, beginner violin for the price and a good choice for a new violin student
If you have a student that you think is really motivated, or musically gifted, and your budget allows, there are a few better choices for about double this price that sound a bit more rich and resonant that come with tuners and that stay in tune better
I think the Fiddlerman carbon fiber bow is a great choice and very sturdy.

The sound is what you'd expect for $20, not that great

If you try to get it perfect the first go round, you will break your strings and be a very unhappy future violinist
I even bought a book from the series I used in school - All for Strings: Comprehensive String Method, Book 2, and it doesn't feel any different taking 15 years off than the time I took 1 year off
We had little trouble tuning the violin for play using an app on our phone to insure each string was correct.
The bridge is not fitted for the instrument, so the strings fall a few millimeters too high from the fingerboard but it is definitely playable

Mine came complete with strings, a bow, rosin, a decent case and the everso important bridge piece that I noticed had apparently not been included with many orders as I read the reviews for this product
