I ordered this for my 5-year old grandson, since he actually requested a violin for his birthday and thought it might be a good and cheap starter for him

Perfect starter for those who wanted to see if the violin was right for them

I've also had several clumsy students prone to dropping their instrument, and I feel this is a decent starter violin if you can't afford to rent/have decent instrument insurance with a child that may not be exceedingly careful about taking care of a delicate instrument

Violin Including Case is a good starter violin that can be used to be sure the student has a real interest before making a much larger investment

I think it is especially well suited for children because it is certainly as good as (or better than) a rental violin and in the long run, much less expensive without as much cost should your child damage or lose it.
