Needless to say, I take care of my stuff because this is more than just a hobby
We took good care of it, never leaving it laying around, but it didn't matter
Which is weird because I take really good care of all my electronics
As I was thinking about purchasing it, I read some reviews that they were breaking, but in my experience, If you take good care of them they will stand up to normal use
I take extra care to not bend or coil the wires, but it still breaks
Very nice head set for price wonderful customer service please buy it's a deal
I don't know if they are just cheaply made or if they are designed to wear out after a couple weeks, but the price of a different brand will likely be worth it when they become available!
Got it w/the Xbox on relesse day and the mic just recently broke (prolly b/c of my 18 month old)
The price seems reasonable for a new one, but I'm leaning towards upgrading to the Stereo Headset.
hard to find these headsets anymore, works great and good price!
The headset works great and the volume buttons as well as the mute button work effectively

I like having the mute and volume buttons on the controller
I had my xbox 360 cheap-o
Most people would critique the proprietary buttons on the bottom, however, I won't, Microsoft finally removed the requirement for you to use that connector(and the need to buy the 25 dollar chat adapter for xbox one), so that is a welcome change.
Since I didn't like the headset, I cut the cord and spliced it in with my Astro A40 chat headset and use my old Astros for chat now since Microsoft never made an adapter as they promised.
It's uncomfortable, never feeling like it's sitting correctly on my head, and apparently prone to breaking (I've only had one break so far)
We are happy with this xbox one headset, no malfunctions, and has not broke yet as of jan
As others have said...this is just overall a very poor design, horrible engineering, horrible materials...a big let down with regard to this supposedly being a headset representative of a "next

The cable connection is cheap and the microphone or speakers stop working after about a month of use.
My old one broke for no reason at all so this one worked out of the box
Great mic that works as shown, it feels a lot better than the Xbox 360 headset and personally it has better quality.
Positives - The item fits and works and at the end of the day that is really all I wanted
Hardly works, have to bend the wire a certain way to get it to be able to speak and everyone complains about how annoying the sounds are that it makes even though I'm doing nothing

the only way to unplug this head set is to squeeze the buttons of the adaptor thus eventually breaking this piece of crap.

My original headset broke because I bent the cables the wrong way, this was a perfect replacement
The problem with it is the way you have to manhandle the piece of garbage to get it into and out of the controller.
I am just so sick of these cheaply made modern products designed to break so the consumer is forced to drop more money into a new one
NOT TO MENTION THE DESIGN IS AWFUL....why the heck is the mic unbendable?
From horrible design to shoddy workmanship, Xbox has really covered all their bases here
As others have said...this is just overall a very poor design, horrible engineering, horrible materials...a big let down with regard to this supposedly being a headset representative of a "next
I've always been an Xbox gamer, but this is just really disappointing and bad design.
This thing gave me one hell of a headache though because of the side with no earpiece pressing against muscles around my temple.
This is quite possibly the worst thing that i have ever put on my head
Literally the cheapest thing ever invented, Ive owned six of

I'm only a once or twice a week gamer, if that, and don't abuse these things in the least, but they are the least reliable and cheapest headsets I've ever encountered.
My only personal dislike of this headset is that it's a bit uncomfortable when it comes too the ear piece, found the 360 standard mic to be more comfortable and perhaps the sensitivity should be tuned down a bit, the mic is actually a bit too sensitive in some cases however definitely worth $25.
They attach to the controller pretty strongly so they require a good bit of force to remove

I understand the fault lies with improper use, but both sets broke so easily and unfortunately, the headphones are a bit difficult to disconnect the way they are designed
Lasted every bit of maybe 2 days tops and then died, terrible product.
Average lifetime of this headset is about 6 months, and then the mic and/or headset will die with average use
I have owned 2 and both just stopped working around 3 or 4 months of casual use.
These headsets only work a couple months before breaking
I give this 2 stars because while it worked it worked well for the features I desired (i.e. one ear, lightweight, mute/volume control easily accessible at the jack) it lasted just under 6 months at which point the mic stopped working; rediculous as I'm the only one who's used it and taken excellent care with it
ugh lasted about 2 months before breaking... get what you pay for
this product is crap i bought it and the mic does not work
My product was late good thing i paid for 2 day shipping and it was broken right speaker does not work
In all honesty it should illegal what Microsoft does here
Other reviews are correct in saying it is sort of hard to remove from the controller, but seems to be functioning perfectly for me aside from that minor inconvenience (which does get easier over time).
It's must less expensive than a wireless headset which is what was originally wanted, but when you're on a budget, this one does the exact same thing for a much lower price.
My Mic wire got lightly pinched and stopped working, so I had to buy a new one
It is lot better quality wire then the 360 version and it is a lot longer too
What kills me the most is that the wireless 360 headset worked perfectly and Microsoft disabled the Bluetooth chips in Xbox one so that they can sell these overpriced wired ones designed to break after a couple months
The only con about this headset is the wire is extremely thin and tangles very easily and could end up breaking the wires connection
A little after that I would have to wrap the wire around the side of my neck for my mic to actually work
when it works, it works well, but the cord is so cheap that I find myself replacing these every few months because the cord breaks inside the insulation.
The second one, despite the poor design in removing the block from the controller, I never used the cord in order to remove it and it still broke
I did find the long cord to be useful but cumbersome at times, and I liked the ability to adjust the height of the earpiece along the headband, which helps keep the headset from falling off most any size head

It's uncomfortable, never feeling like it's sitting correctly on my head, and apparently prone to breaking (I've only had one break so far)
And then after 4 months, it started making loud static noises that I couldn't hear, but other people found unbearable.
I also found the headset itself to be uncomfortable after an hour or so of use, when removing the headset it would pull my hair out on the side with the earpiece (although this should only affect those with longer hair), and if I moved my head much with it on i could hear a rattling noise coming from the earpiece
It will eventually either just stop working or produce a constant, intolerable noise in parties and game chat due to faulty wiring sooner rather than later
