Unfortunately, the small size also means that some controls must perform a variety of duties
It's easily the most-used control on the radio, and I would have preferred if the dedicated Shift knob performed double-duties as the DSP control, freeing up the DSP/SEL knob to handle just tuning and menu functions
Sure I would like more dedicated controls, but not at the expense of the radio's display or size
The controls are easy to figure out and the menu is not too complicated

But on this rig, it's the overused DSP/SEL button (plus the band-shift buttons) that are responsible for large tuning changes, while the big knob is strictly for fine tuning
And for fine-tuning it's big enough
It would be an issue if the knob was responsible for both fast and fine tuning, as on some rigs where the main tuning knob increases the frequency from hertz to kilohertz to megahertz--all depending on the spin speed

Very good xcvr with a precise and usefull DSP implementation
