I think you could find similar products outside the Yamaha brand, but this pedal has a really nice feel.

The build quality seems great and it works well but because they did not include a tightener to attach the hammer, it keeps coming loose and becomming detached once a day

That said, I'm a heavy footed, heal up bass drum player -- but if I were gigging instead of messing around in my home studio -- this would be a deal breaker for me.

I am a beginner and not yet can tell the difference from this solid starter foot pedal and the high end ones which can be quite pricey

Tye beater itself is also very nice and tge pedal has a very nice sleek design and I highly reckoned it, very durable.

Since my Base drum pad didn't have a very good design of its own, I found myself having to readjust the floor position of my pedal after each song played.

It's light, simple, and boasts remarkable balance, speed, silence, and touch right out of the box with no adjustments.
