I was used to playing my dad's old Gremlin guitar and I was amazed at how much more resonate my new Yamaha was when I struck the first chord
I installed the supplied "light" strings, and they are much easier to use (after a build up a tolerance, I'll go back to the heavier strings that came with it).I will say that when compared to the more expensive guitars I tried (Martin & Co., Taylor, Ovation, Guild, Washburn, etc), this Yamaha sounded as good (and in rare cases, BETTER), for significantly less money
If you want a quality entry level priced guitar that performs like a much more expensive guitar, the Yamaha is a winner.
