Reviews around synthesizer (5.00 of 5)

  • Or better yet, maybe Yamaha could release a more compact 73-key (E to E) version, like Nord
  • Or better yet, maybe Yamaha could release a more compact 73-key (E to E) version, like Nord
  • It met my expectations - a truly versatile synthesizer.
  • So I'm really enjoying this synthesizer, and am waiting for the Reface YC organ I ordered to come in, I may even splurge later on for the Reface CS.
  • and then it would've been the best keyboard ever don't get me wrong its still a nice synthesizer easy to make sound tho

Reviews around synth (5.00 of 5)

  • Overall, a nice affordable compact synth that's very portable
  • I'm finding that going "hands on" with this hardware synth is teaching me so much more in comparison to a soft synth!Heck, even some of the preset tones sound awesome to me (especially the wobble bass patch)!
  • You get what you paid for, and this synth is truly amazing, Buying an actual DX7 is pretty much the only other option if you want to get any closer to it's sound
  • The moment I touched the keys and twiddled the slidersof this beautiful synth i realised I was wrong.

Reviews around effect (5.00 of 5)

  • The adjustable effects are sufficient to create a nice mix of varied sounds without overwhelming the user.
  • Or better yet, maybe Yamaha could release a more compact 73-key (E to E) version, like Nord
  • The realtime control is intuitive, the effects are fantastic, & the mini key action is surprisingly playable

Reviews around instrument (5.00 of 5)

  • Or better yet, maybe Yamaha could release a more compact 73-key (E to E) version, like Nord
  • This is a great, lightweight instrument that is surprisingly well-built.
  • As far as use goes, it is a very fun and inspiring instrument to have at your disposal
  • Excellent instrument but is no longer producing any sound after hardly a year of use!
  • I really enjoy this instrument, it provides a simple interface that allows me to explore synthesis.

Reviews around midi (5.00 of 5)

  • The USB MIDI functionality and small size actually makes this an excellent midi controller as well as a high quality stand alone synth
  • I really can't see why anyone would want to pay a price like this when you can get more performance with an inexpensive midi keyboard connected to a computer
  • But it has a weird mini-DIN socket instead of proper MIDI jacks.
  • You can even just plug in the Reface to your laptop and have a compact MIDI controller all on its own if you wanted

Reviews around analog (5.00 of 5)

  • Of the 4 REFACE units I am aware of, the CP initially seemed like the least exciting to me; as I have a lot of experience with classic 1 to 3 oscillator ADSR analog synthesizers as well as the famous DX7
  • (USB / MIDI / line outs / headphones out / etc)- Cool analog style
  • Incredible smooth analog sound (despite being digital under the hood)CONS- Retail price isn't cheap; for the same money, you can get a much more powerful device (but that is like saying you shouldn't buy a motorcycle unless you have a car; apples and oranges

Reviews around delay (4.16 of 5)

  • The digital delay is "crisper" and keeps it's sharpness
  • Then I make choices regarding reverb, delay, modulation, etc
  • The analog delay is even better than the digital delay in my opinion
  • The sound is amazing: the ePiano sound is lovely, the FM synth engine gives you the best of the 80's sounds, and the built-in effect unit makes it sound even better (personally, I *need* a delay on a synth, and this machine allows you to have a complex dual delay)
  • Either delay is great for making droning space rock sounding stuff, it's really fun to play with

Reviews around build (4.10 of 5)

  • The built-in speakers aren't amazing, so for some more sound you'll want to stereo out this sweet thing
  • Forget one at home, and the built-in speakers are good enough to jam with an acoustic guitar
  • The built in speakers are good and enough for noodling around
  • This is a great, lightweight instrument that is surprisingly well-built.
  • Extremely rich sound, tons of custom options, really compact design & very solid build

Reviews around key (3.86 of 5)

  • The Reface does not at all feel like a flimsy piece of plastic, with mushy keys
  • These REFACE synthesizers make great learning tools for young musicians, and the keys will be much easier for smaller hands to play
  • I play piano and absolutely love playing these mini-keys.
  • There aren't enough keys to play many songs with both hands
  • Or better yet, maybe Yamaha could release a more compact 73-key (E to E) version, like Nord

Reviews around quality (3.37 of 5)

  • Super expressive, portable, incredible quality all around
  • I understand they wanted to make this line somewhat higher quality and not like a toy keyboard (it is definitely not a toy), but it can be hard to justify the price when software synths with lots of effects are almost free and sometimes included with a computer (like all Apple computers)
  • Even when used as sound module, audio quality is decent
  • My son did not like the quality.
  • Sound quality decent, but impossible to stabilize on lap
