It offers Bluetooth audio support, something that neither the Sonos One nor the Apple HomePod offers (though the Amazon Echo and Google Home do)

The sound is impressive given the small footprint, but a physical audio port would have been a nice feature that isn't there.

The built-in equalizer is a nice feature, but alas, increasing the bass much past the center-point results in distorted sound

I was fortunate enough to receive the Yamaha MusicCast 20 speaker and after playing with it for a few days comparing sound quality, features and functionality to a few other essentially similarly focused speakers (Pure Jongo S3, Logitech UE Air, Boston Acoustics MC200Air), I find it to be a pretty nice device but one most likely to be most pleasing to users already entrenched in the Yamaha audio environment or those looking to move in that direction

The app also helps you add on compatible MusicCast devices (additional speakers, subwoofer) in the future

The sound is very good, and fills my lab of over 50'x100', and has good enough base that music does not sound tinny and carries well even over the hum of the HVAC and lab hoods

While this speaker is a pain to set up and isn't very user-friendly or intuitive, the sound is definitely worth it

Unfortunately for non-MusicCast system users like me, the Alexa control is pretty limited.

Yes, the Yamaha skill can be added however unless the intent is to jump into the Yamaha world with both feet, there’s not much to be gained from the limited functions available via Alexa access.

Their app works very well, and the speaker is easy and satisfying to use.

Overall, the app worked flawlessly, and was intuitive

The app allows volume control, and it's touchy - most of the volume slider controls 10% of the volume, while the last 10% of the slider controls most of the volume - so that last bit of the slider goes from low volume to full volume

The power cable is terribly designed - it feels loose even when plugged in all the way and it blocks access to all of these mysterious (largely useless) network/USB/mystery ports

It only has a network port (a curious alternative to its wireless network capabilities), a USB port (labeled "service only"), and a mysterious thin port (purpose unknown, not explained in product manual).
