    Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

    • Wilco is probably the best band that many people have never heard of.
    • It won't appease those who revel is the same tiresome and boring rock routines, bands with different names but essentially the same
    • I'm not the type of person to throw around 4 or 5 star rating because "I like the band."
    • Wilco is one of my favorite bands
    • Wilco is basically just a really soft band that could use a bit more pep if you ask me
    • I know they are a critically acclaimed band and this disc has really been blown up.
    • Wilco was on its way (after A.M. and Being There) to becoming one of the best rock/roots rock bands in the world.
    • "Summer Teeth."The fact is that with this album Wilco have proved themselves to be one of the most important bands in a long time
    • I love all kinds of music, but Wilco just happens to be my favorite band, and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is my favorite album
    • Buy this CD immediately as it just proves the staying power and innovation of America's greatest band.
    • Radiohead has obviously influenced the intelligent bands of this era
    • Song writing and musicianship is as stellar as you'd expect from America's greatest working rock band
    • The public all to eager to pigeon hole a band, label them Altcounrty
    • It is just a shame that one of America's greatest bands has to have such a hard time gettng their music heard.
    • On their last album, Summerteeth, Wilco started to move away from just being an (excellent) alt.country, roots rock band and incorporating more elements into their music.
    • Oh yeah, what the hell was Reprise thinking when they thought this album was not "MARKETABLE" and decided to drop one of the best bands in America?
    • Wilco had transformed from the mediocre alt-country band that could never surpass the reach of Uncle Tupelo to the band everyone loved
    • By mixing the roots of Americana, with the "sound"-of-today, the band succeeds in creating an album that's complex, and unusually rich in atmosphere.
    • It seems to be difficult for some fans to grow up along with their favorite band.
    • Many bands evolve over time, and I hate people who cry about it.
    • I mention this right up front because I know it colors my feelings about "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot," and even though I have since fallen in love with Wilco's previous albums (as well as other alt-country bands), all of Wilco's prior work seems like steps towards an ultimate goal
    • Yankee Hotel Foxtrot finally shows that there are still bands out there worth listening to that are still great bands that aren't hip, post-ironic blatant retreads of rock's history
    • And then, every once while, these great bands might put out an album that's even better than anything you ever thought that even they were capable of
    • According to almost every form of media I can think of I should love Wilco, all the 5 star reviews hailing them as the saviors of rock and the best indie band around
    • I honestly thought that the friend who recommended Wilco to me, calling them "the best band in America," was out of his mind
    • However, creative tensions during the recording sessions led to two members leaving the band.
    • Critics jumped on this with good reviews due to it's "eccentric nature", short-wave radio theme, and the band's trouble getting this album released.
    • When Wilco refused to make any changes, the band purchased the rights to the recordings and left the label.
    • So don't buy a CD for quality, buy it to support the band, or even better, do what I do : send the band money directly as payment for all the songs you have gotten "backup" copies of.
    • With the exception of "Summerteeth," no Wilco album really separates itself from all the other good bands that churn out music just like this: the first two albums are serviceable country-rock, and this and its follow up
    • The songwriting is fantastic ("Reservations" is one of my favorite new songs) and the production that others complain about only enhances what an already talented band can put on tape.
    • Now they are one of my favorite bands ever.
    • Wilco is a great band, and I am excited for them that they are getting some pub and critical attention--they deserve it
    • To me it is incredibly deserving, and by no means a rip-off of or anything similar to Pink Floyd (considering Pink Floyd is by far my favorite band)
    • A band only gets better when they try to do something different from each previous album
    • For one thing, with the intricate sound of this album, there's a real noticeable difference from the mp3.Also, I for one am tired of seeing the blank stares from cool people who have good music taste when I tell them who my favorite band is
    • Jeff Tweedy's band following the break-up of Uncle Tupelo.
    • Wilco is quite simply the best band in America
    • When Wilco refused to make any changes, the band purchased the rights to the recordings and left the label.
    • Just a few months before the release of the world-recognized Yankee Foxtrot Hotel, Jeff Tweedy (Wilco frontman) and his incomplete band (Jay Bennett resigning after the recording of the album)toured the Midwest with an album that was complete, yet lacking a release date.
    • Most good bands
    • Personally Being There was Wilco's watershed and they've been as close to a 'favorite band' as I can have since.
    • And for the smart-alecks out there, if I were going to pretend to like a band in order to be "cool", it sure as hell wouldn't be Wilco...
    • I have always like this band
    • The album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot exhibits Jeff's willingness to push himself and his music, and more exciting was the fact that Wilco's original record label felt the album was not commerical enough, so the band bought the rights to the album and shopped it around looking for another label
    • All bands must evolve and progress, to rehash the same formula over and over is uninspiring
    • The band masks these deficiencies with electronic squawks, blipping synth, toy pianos and cascading white noise that make for a gorgeous soundscape while you're listening
    • I don't consider them anything other than great artists, a great band
    • excellent band especially live
    • Wilco is the best band working today
    • Anyone who downloaded this album over the past year, support the band and buy it.
    • But Wilco also shows maturity in songs such as Ashes of the American Flag, and Poor Places, as well as Jesus Etc., showing the band is capable of the same esoteric lyrics and metaphors as their British counterpart, but never losing touch with the audience
    • Wilco has proven that it doesn't take one specific sound for a band to remain loyal to their fans or to please the only people that matter to them: THEIR FANS.
    • Tweedy's nostalgia for Kiss is pretty revealing as, musically, Kiss is one of the worst bands of all time
    • I know they are a critically acclaimed band and this disc has really been blown up.
    • With the "boy band" era dying, we can hope for a bright future on the horizon for music: with bands like Wilco and Radiohead exploring new territory, and old favorites like U2 and R.E.M. still producing albums that keep our feet planted in the tradion that is still necessary.
    • As a person who loves music that mostly comes from the UK, Wilco is probably the best "rock" band right now (and probably has been for quite some time).
    • I think Wilco is a great band
    • Wilco without a doubt is the best band because of how diverse they can be and still be proud of each record--which is so different from the next.
    • Tweedy's lyrics have become more abstract and the band uses more sound effects and white noise to complement their usual arrangements.
    • It's a real shame because the YHF demos (available online) and the soundtrack to "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart" have shown that the band isn't playing nonsense over nonsense - they're ruining perfectly good songs that might make this one of Wilco's best releases had some less self-indulgent minds been guiding the proceedings
    • Take a great band & break it apart.
    • I could listen to this until my ears bled and not feel a tenth of the emotion expressed by truly great bands such as Sunny Day Real Estate and Death Cab for Cutie.
    • Support this great band and buy a copy or two of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
    • - I keep thinking of REM classics (one of my favorite bands)
    • To those of you unfamiliar with Wilco, they are truly one of America's greatest bands
    • " another band might turn it up a serious notch at the end, or scream the last line, or repeat the quasi-
    • Wilco is now easily one of my Top 10 favorite bands of all time
    • Take a great band & break it apart.
    • It's ironic that this band, which was technologically savvy enough to to stream Yankee Hotel Foxtrot from their Web site while looking for a label , ultimately released a CD apparently so flawed that it cannot be played on a PC!
    • I saw them twice live, and they're just an amazing band that produced an amazing product.
    • Tweedy is an accomplished songwriter with a distinctive voice, but he is not a visionary, and his material is nowhere near as strong as that belonging to songwriters such as Will Oldham, Mark Everett, or even to Radiohead, the band to which Wilco is so often compared
    • Put it all together seamlessly, as pure as
