    Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

    • There's not a bad moment on this album, and the music is gorgeous
    • This is to modern music what Revolver was to those who grew up listening to "I want to hold your hand".
    • The music of Uncle Tupelo (later to become Wilco and Son Volt) was like nothing I've ever listened to before, except maybe Robert Johnson recordings
    • The music on this album is gorgeous
    • This album is a must buy for anyone who enjoys music for more than just the melodies
    • He's opening for REM on part of their tour, although this music lends itself much better to a club than an arena, because this is very intimate, F'd up music that is best appreciated up close.
    • Jeff Tweedy's lyrics are unmatched by his contemporaries and the band's ear for the eclectic is unprecedented in this era of popular music.
    • With the exception of "Summerteeth," no Wilco album really separates itself from all the other good bands that churn out music just like this: the first two albums are serviceable country-rock, and this and its follow up
    • There's lots of strange effects, some static and dissonance, lots of experimental touches...but it always complements the music, never distracting the listener
    • For one thing, with the intricate sound of this album, there's a real noticeable difference from the mp3.Also, I for one am tired of seeing the blank stares from cool people who have good music taste when I tell them who my favorite band is
    • Good music for anyone with a decent ear, patience and a heart...
    • This is a progressive album in the way that music should be progressive.
    • Such great music
    • Lyrics are almost unrelentingly morose, melodies are virtually non-existent, and you get the feeling that no one enjoyed making this music, nor do they want you to enjoy listening to it
    • Lyrics are almost unrelentingly morose, melodies are virtually non-existent, and you get the feeling that no one enjoyed making this music, nor do they want you to enjoy listening to it
    • This music is great.
    • The music is so fresh, though, that at first listening I hated it
    • I immediately bought this cd, and much like Radiohead, it took about 2 or 3 hearings to really appreciate the music
    • THIS IS JUST GREAT MUSIC IN ANY GENRE
    • After 4 or 5 listens, you see that the music and the lyrics are pure genius
    • Simply a good album I can relate to, packed full of good songs to paraphrase Brian Wilson when speaking about Rubber Soul -- perhaps too much to ask in this day and age of MP3s, burning CDs and their accompanying disposable music
    • COMLETE MUSIC FREAK HERE
    • Listening to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is like tuning into a distant radio station that plays the coolest music and whose signal occasionally fades in and out and periodically overlaps with competing signals, resulting in sonic dissonance.
    • Beyond its musical greatness, buy it to experience modern music that is beyond categorization.
    • this album is wonderful for people who like challenging music that still has pop sensibilities.
    • Lyrics are almost unrelentingly morose, melodies are virtually non-existent, and you get the feeling that no one enjoyed making this music, nor do they want you to enjoy listening to it.
    • I fully suggest that anyone who appreciates intelligent, intense, emotional, yet challenging music treat themselves to this record.
    • It is great driving music.
    • This CD is a proverbial "diamond in the rough"; a wonderful CD full of great music in a desert of commercialism, mediocre songs, and repetition
    • It's innovative, beautiful music that doesn't have a bit of extra crap thrown in.
    • I love weird music with an experimental side that maintains melody, but this thing is just boring
    • Buy it if you love intelligent music, or really love music that transcends genre and special interests, and is willing to find its own voice rather than play to the crowd.
    • , the music is like country and love songs and that stuff, im not into it that
    • I love weird music with an experimental side that maintains melody, but this thing is just boring
    • I made better music in elementary band class then is on this CD.
    • The lyrics were about life, the music was rooted in America, like the smell of fresh clothes hanging outside all day in the sun
    • Because you did that, we real music fans that don't like Linkin park and that
    • While it is hard to articulate, as a fan I think that Wilco is producing some very important music for our time.
    • Where else in modern music do you get phrases like "Bible-black pre-dawn"? or "tongue tied lightning"
    • I fully suggest that anyone who appreciates intelligent, intense, emotional, yet challenging music treat themselves to this record.
    • You don't need to be a prior fan of Wilco to be a fan of this album; you only need to like good music in an otherwise sorry time for the industry.
    • People who know this band from their previous work will find a lot to enjoy here and newcomers, perhaps drawn in by the press surrounding this release, will get a chance to hear what music sounds like when art comes first and commerce is just an afterthought.
    • Lyrics are almost unrelentingly morose, melodies are virtually non-existent, and you get the feeling that no one enjoyed making this music, nor do they want you to enjoy listening to it
    • like some switch flipped and I believed in good music all over again
    • Well we all know now that he has put down some of the best music to come out in years
    • That is just some of the most amazing music I have heard in the past
    • The music is so fresh, though, that at first listening I hated it
    • Although some of us don't really care all that much about them, there are always going to be trends in popular music, and Wilco's latest recording is a perfect example of what's apparently coming down the pike.
    • I saw Wilco hanging out, I'd say, "Wilco, you should go back to making serious but upbeat music that people will really like instead of thinking they have to like because it's weird and somehow seems really important.
    • babbleI would recommend just avoiding music like this.
    • There are few American musicians these days who are constantly willing to put their reputation on the line by creating adventurous and challenging music.
    • Maybe this album would be good if you were used to listening to really crappy music for an exstensive period of time and than discovered that coldplay is a really sad excuse of a band, and you put away your interpol cd's because you finally realized that they are a joy division ripoff but way worse.
    • They do things their own way, and all they care about is making great music
    • Wilco has always had that quality about them that makes you sit back and think this is great music
    • At 3:01 with its haunting descending piano line and acoustic guitar over drum marching is as good as music gets.
    • If you love great music buy this
    • The lyricsoften hint of unusually good poetry in spots but inmost spots are overly repetitious and void of anyunderlying toungue in cheek humor that gave a lotof their ealier music its irony and charm
    • Each album has been an artistic step forward, but the music never fully sounded like their own.
    • Truly a breakthough in modern rock music
    • They are in a genre all thier own, no label applies, they just make beautiful music
    • you like great, original music, you will like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot a lot
    • As a person who loves music that mostly comes from the UK, Wilco is probably the best "rock" band right now (and probably has been for quite some time).
    • The experimentation on YHF is refreshing, the lyrics are sometimes unintelligible yet unforgettable and the music is passionate, intelligent and unlike anything else you'll hear out there
    • There are some very cool things about the album and some very complex music but come on...give it a rest with the gratuitous Pink Floyd rip
    • This cd is thoughtful, smart and pretty tight, but it's not going to grab you by the throat, unless you're the extremely thoughtful, sensitive music type
    • i could not recommend an album more highly than i do this one. if you appreciate great music that defies being put into any genre other than "great music", you will not regret buying this album
    • The Killers, Simon and Garfunkel, the above mentioned Sunny Day Real Estate and Death Cab for Cutie, The Clash, Operation Ivy, and Neutral Milk Hotel are all great for real music lovers, not lovers of comatose inducing slop passing as music like this
    • This album perfectly balances rocking-out and slowing it down for simply beautiful music.
    • oh yes, but isnt everything in popular music?
    • Not every UT fan is a Wilco fan and this may be too much for the "alt-country" (a label which I really hate) fans, but if you really appreciate music and the effort a band can put forth, you will enjoy this
    • The music completely kills the mood
    • If you like your music safe, mainstream & MOR, don't bother
    • And the music is much improved, for its presence
    • YANKEE HOTEL FOXTROT is Wilco's avant-garde masterpiece, and rightfully deserves a place in the collection of any fan of good music
    • Jeff Tweedy's vocals work well with the material, and sometimes the music often seems like a late night low fi radio broadcast
    • As much as I like Wilco, please...people...pop in Summerteeth or disc two from Being There...the best music around.
    • Great music nonetheless and certainly one of the best this year.
    • In spite of wanting desperately to like it, to see some glimmer of hope in modern music, to avoid being let down by yet another band who believe their wheel is the original wheel, YFH not only confirmed my suspicions of the death of pop, but raised others on the poverty of taste and discernment displayed by 'knowing' critics who ought to know better.
    • With lines like "I, assassin down the avenue" and "Take your band-aid off, cause I don't believe in touchdowns" it's a wonder anyone cares what the music sounds like.
    • Their messages are straight-forward, allowing you to appreciate the lyrics and the music, instead of trying to delinate some meaning about mind-control or overpopulation that really seperates the mind from the music
    • that Radiohead didn't come out with OK Computer and continued to make music like The Bends
    • Yes, I agree that Wilco may not save the world or change your life but the music is enjoyable and something different
    • Lyrics are almost unrelentingly morose, melodies are virtually non-existent, and you get the feeling that no one enjoyed making this music, nor do they want you to enjoy listening to it
    • The first track has a lot of heartfelt music in it, but also a lot of noisy and droning filler.
    • I don't recommend a lot of CD's, but if you're a fan of good music, you'll enjoy this one.
    • And please, forget the tedious arguments about whether this album is the "next great thing" and just enjoy the music.
    • It's nice to know that a few artists are still interested in making good music, push the envelope, and are not willing to sell out to corporate thugs.
    • The next few tracks are terrific, no tweaks needed, great music.
    • I had believed that all the territories out there in popular music had pretty much already been charted
    • The lyrics are amazing and the music itself incredible.
    • It proves that good music doesn't need angry, pierced and tatooed kids shouting and pseudo-rapping to heavy metal music!
    • Like a lot of well respected artists, their music isn't easily pigeon-holed, but it can be described as pop with a lot of experimentation with noises and distortion mixed in to keep it interesting.
    • A lot of qualifying however only to say if you can get Wilco you'll have the world in front of you in regards to a lot of amazing music that your friends have probably never heard of
    • If, however, you enjoy literate music that fits in no category other than "good," this is for you.
    • I tend to like soft music just fine, but the songs on this CD simply don't have good melodies to offer
    • This is one of those albums that is ushering the now popular indie rock scene, which is very focused on looking cool, but not actually playing any good music and "singing" out of tune (or just babbling randomly).
    • I was highly recommended to purchase this Wilco album from a respected music guru friend of mine
    • In this album, Jeff Tweedy and Wilco have created a musical code of lost love, dreams, and poliitics that may not be ready for the radio or major label CEOs, but should be ready for anyone that loves great American music.
    • Opening with the strange yet beautiful "I
