Unfortunately, the great idea and great sensor this camera has are hampered by really bad software
You get an impressive 20mp Sony sensor, 4k video and a couple of very decent lenses under $400
, that has a very good sensor, comes with two good lenses and allows you to add a number of additional lenses designed for micro 4/3 mirrorless cameras
It has a really good sensor, it feels well made and overall it punches well above it's price
On paper, a "gateway" MFT camera that's simple to use, has a great sensor, and offers nice lens versatility is a fantastic thing

This is a versatile camera, that's designed to be (almost) as easy to use as a smartphone, while allowing for a wide range of options that let you take much better photos than you could get with your smartphone
It will take nice photos and sharp 4k video, a step above point-and-shoot.
Perfect photos from the time i took it out the box and used the 42mm lens.
Maybe if I spent a year trying to figure out how to take decent photos with it, but really, why bother?

Sadly my Lumix 14-24 power zoom does not retract on power-down.(woks fine on my GF5).{fixed with firmware 1.2-int, Feb2017)In bright light its most difficult to see menu,(low contrast, poor icons, small grey font).
Autofocus is fast enought in bright light, and good enought in low-medium light, but it hunt for focus a little
I am very happy with it being a lightweight 4/3 camera because its impressive and professional light captures.
This is way off and leads to massive blue from handshake, as it should be at least 1/2000th of a second based on my experience with such as wide open aperture and the available lighting.

The YI is an okay first effort, but at its current price it does not provide a good value in my opinion.
It is a very good value and works with many of my Olympus lenses.

Like I said, it offers great value, but with a little more work over on the video side, it can potentially be an all-in-one solution

The camera is unbelievable so much quality the stills are incredible the video 4K UHD is stunning.
For my purpose, which was videos the camera worked great with the exception of one thing
I have read a lot of reviews about this camera, both good and bad as far as the build quality/materials, photo and video capabilities and so forth and so on
VIDEO IS TERRIBLE

I brought images into Lightroom, pulled highlights all the way down, lifted shadows all the way, then adjusted exposure until the images did not show highlight clipping (blown bright areas)

the configuration was long and hard, then the focus is horrible, especially in making videos, a smartphone does much better, the microphone did not work either a channel or in any case it sounded just to the right and not to the left.
The 42mm lens is great for taking portraits, and you can really get a nice narrow focus that gives "bokeh" in the background
Image stabilization is weak, there is noticeable aperature stepping, excessive focus hunting, and one film mode - 4K.
Even so the Action Cam delivers so crystal clear images this camera is just missing focus points left right and center
This camera has a lot of things going for it but the missing stuff along with a buggy auto focus while in video makes it very frustrating to use especially for Vlogs
