Also, the clip is not a very secure way to stow it--for example in the spiral rings of a small pad--because the back end cap that you remove to add lead is not that secure

What I did to provide a better traction grip was wrap the pencil with a carbon fiber wrap.
This pencil is about the size of a golf pencil, you know those tiny ones that you can't ever really get a good grip of but is good for maybe just jotting something quickly down

The size is compact enough to keep on my person, but potentially easy to lose as well
Perfect size but beware the mechanism that allows the pen to be used- when you push it in and down- is a piece of garbage, unfortunately
The small size is unique and the low cost of them as opposed to others I used to buy means it is not a tragedy if I happen to lose one or loan it to someone who forgets to return it.
The mini size, is elegant to look at and still commands attention.
The small size makes breaking the lead inside much less likely too
