I hand tightened (not sure if they normally are loosened during shipment...) and it seems to be working well.
It seemed to be working great initially but after the first few months it started acting funny - I'd flip the power switch on and it'd come on, immediately turn off again, then come back on, sometimes 2-3 times
I'm glad I got this for my bearded dragon , it's working great with the longer light

Also the light that isn't in the dome fixture obviously tends to wobble around a little bit since it's balancing on the actual bulb instead of the fixture sitting on the surface.
Still provides the light and warmth the turtles love but keeps the high heat from burning things nearby as well as too much heat for the turtles.
They don't stick out and leak light like what happens with the smaller fixtures
My tortoise is now happily sunbathing with this, and it prevents the light from hitting me as I am violently sensitive to sunlight, UV lights, bright lights, and the fluorescent lights at supermarkets
