I wasn't wild about the deadcat, but all in all, it is a pretty good package at a pretty good price, and worth your while to at least check out if you are considering buying the Zoom H1n
This is a great price for a portable digital stereo recorder - mics sound much better than you'd think, the controls are simple and intuitive, and it's easy to get the recordings out of it via
It feels cheap in the hand, but for the price it's worth every penny
However, for the reasonable price, the audio quality, and the ease of operation, this is a great portable recorder
Nice product - Very good sound quality for a product this size
The size and functionality is great, and the quality is indistinguishable from the other devices
The size is about right for these small cameras and most of the time simply having a larger recorder is just too much to pack around just to have the option of XLR ports.
The small size makes it easy to carry around, and the build quality isn't as cheap as I was afraid
It is nicely design, about the right size and weight, the recordings are high quality
Zoom can, then, even develop and sell the complementary mics (lapel, face boom, in hair, etc).I short, the preamp and the sample rate/bit depth is what makes this a great product -- that and the fact that it is really "handy".

Great unit, same quality (as far as I can tell via research) as the new model so a great value!
A note of caution: this unit is VERY sensitive if you push up the recording volume, and it will even pick up the sound of your skin scraping against its plastic shell
These little units are a life saver, using in conjunction with RØDE smartlav as a backup for wireless mic
While I had a techie's advice in purchasing this recorder, and can't give you a techie review, I can say that this little unit has been reliable and invaluable in recording our small but mighty choir.

After several months of use and getting used to the controls, I find this a commendable product

I would not recommend this product because of this problem and the fact that the H1 had similar problems with battery life
Looks like zoom is continuing to put out a great recording product and not addressing the defective battery drainage issue
Product has worked really well for me, easy to use interface and can easily switch between many quality and format settings

2- excellent recording quality with line in and way above average with the internal mics, 3) easy to use controls for non-menu driven flexibility
, I think that's 10-24 in bolt sizes if you want to make your own grip deal), or stick some adhesive foam on it where you hold it (while leaving the buttons exposed, of course). This is a great item - I'll be using it for recording bird calls and sampling ambient noise for music.
The one he was using was a new H4 series, more than I needed, but the Zoom H1 recorder offered just what I wanted: quality stereo microphones with adjustable recording levels, stereo inputs for other microphones, a jack for listening, good battery life, micro-SD memory slot, and a 1/4-20 mount for a tripod or other stand
I use it for my professional shoots, as well as recording my thoughts and ideas while driving hours to and from remote clients
I'm hoping that the next firmware addresses this battery drain issue.
The only problem I have with this is the battery drain.
I noticed some reviewers had problems with the battery draining quickly, even when switched off
If you leave your alkaline batteries in the device, powered off, expect to find your battery drained.
