Once the phone makes proper contact with the pad, your phone will respond it's charging, and a LED blue light on the pad will glow.

The LED light is very subtle and definitely not too bright at night in a dark room.

There is a small blue LED that lights when charging, but it is not nearly bright enough to disturb sleep.
