I really didn't need anything more than I had in that other router (which was 8 years old), but was kind of hoping that this one would produce better range.

The AC3100 really seemed to be very overt with it's antennae, so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a better range on it than its 8 year old counterpart.

so far i got my tv ,ps4,xbox1,my reciver, and media player plus my CCTV DVD all hardwired into the switch and its working flawless not one drop at all ,, i started connecting my wireless devices next ,mostly phones and tablets and media players and stuff like that ,range is awesome ,i can walk to the back of my house with my tablet which i would say is about 35 feet away and through 2 walls and i still get 55mb down on my tablet ,,i just turned on the ai protection ,which i was worried would start blocking my sites or use bandwidth and etc.. but so far i don't notice it .,seems to run fine and also set up a 32gig flash dirve and a samba share which went well too

It has great range, great coverage through walls, great interface online, great support, great heat dispersion, great bandwidth retention... but I have then bought a Ethernet cable and only used this box for my phone ever since.

Since I have this router all my devices -10 between computers, mobiles, tablets and TV- work at full speed (240 mb/s) and the range is far greater that it was before (more than 10 meter, two brick walls in between with no problem).I'm very happy with the router and would highly recomend it

AMAZING range

Using the smart connect rules, I was able to get the router to stabilize as long as I kept everything from connecting to the 5Ghz-1 (Lower) channel.

Very frustrating as I'm technology literate and have used an earlier model with similar firmware.

I've had high hopes of one day it may just start working as it should considering what I've paid for it

They will not give you a refund for the unit and will continue to send you a refurbished unit that is very likely to break as it seems these are hit or miss on hardware issues

I asked for a warranty replacement instead because I have no other router, but they have to escalate it up and get it approved as that is not standard procedure

The downside is that file transfers for my laptop to my multi homed NAS box (an 8 by Synology with network teaming) isn't as fast as with the Google OnHub that I pulled out to test this.

Got this router months ago after reading so many good things abt it, the signal really goes far way, control dashboard has so many functions, HOWEVER 5G band is very very unstable, it keeps playing on/ off line every hour, so if you are looking for a rock stable 5G band go for Netgear or Cisco.
