The Epson V600 can go from 50 dpi up to 12800 dpi (if you wanted that much resolution).I find that 4800 dpi is a great quality for backing-up the majority of my shots

Quality of photos scanned into my computer is outstanding.

I opted first for a smaller Canon type that seemed simpler and didn't need a power cord, but the quality for photos was awful, so I returned it and went with this Epson.

For color, you can keep unsharp mask on, and do 24-bit and 2400 for a scan that is decently quick and of decent quality

It isn't super fast, but the quality is incredible and I have scanned thousands of negatives

Epson software gave me excellent quality scans for 35mm negatives with the exception that much dust and dirt artifacts showed up in the scanned image

For top quality film scanning you would need a film scanner, but I think this flatbed scanner gives me good enough quality for my purposes (to view my slides on a computer or TV.)

Replaced my expensive HP Scanjet G4050 to use with my MAC because the HP was cantankerous & never worked as it was supposed to

I scanned some negatives of a trip to Yellowstone Nat'l Park that were taken in 1964 and the results were as good as if I had taken them yesterday.

When I moved from Windows XP to Windows 7 a few years ago, the scanner would no longer work as it was not compatible with the later operating systems and it was time to retire it anyhow.

The more you use this the more you'll wonder if the process can be improved as it's quite time consuming
