    • I chose this scanner after reading a lot of reviews (both here and elsewhere) mainly due to it having a slight edge for slides and medium format negatives over its nearest competitor (for me), the Canon 9000F MKII.Both seem to have different issues as far as the software - for me, I chose this one due to the Canon's file-saving clunkiness that another reviewer described (if there is anything that slows production down for me, it's having to work around (or fight against) a non-intuitive, and possibly rigid, cataloguing

    • I really like the software that comes with it - lets you scan more than one photo at once.
    • The software is easy to use and the Automatic Mode is able to capably recognize the media type being scanned.

    • Such restoration is still left up to software tools and patience

    • Software included works well to adjust brightness
    • Wow, the software was a bit wiggy to download.

    • I love this scanner and the software it comes with
    • I have not been able to clear scratches or other "noise" off of pictures and the software that runs the cleanup function doesn't have much versatility.
    • The scan software for the Mac has a bug.
    • Set too high, the scanning process would simply freeze (the scanning software, not the computer), and I'd have to start the scan over at a lower resolution
    • I do have to clean up the backgrounds (I use GIMP free software) because it picks up a little bit of the paper color when it makes it white
    • An excellent scanner and amazing software!
    • Once you have some great software this is an excellent package!
    • The software to use the film scanner is somewhat archaic though there is the ability to alternatively use Apple's or Window's Image Viewer software (pre-installed on every machine)
    • I think it is called) in the scan software too useful as it leaves a lot to be desired, but the Photoshop elements software included helps more in that area when touching up later
    • Quality of scans isn't great, and software is confusing and difficult to use.
    • My one complaint is that the software for the Macintosh "looks" crummy -- it looks SO 1980s
    • I've scanned about 10 strips so far using the included software as well as highly recommended 3rd-party software
    • The software on my Epson 3170 was much better because it allowed me to make multiple copies, and then save all of them at one time.
    • Sure, the software is not very well-designed, but it works on my 4-year-old Mac without a problem
    • The software that comes with the product is pretty straightforward, and set on Fully Automatic was the easy way to get great digital pictures.
    • As reported by others, the software is very buggy.

    • The software can be a little quirky on the MAC at times, but overall I recommend.
    • The software just seems very clunky and unrefined.
    • The software that come with it is very good - it has different levels of complexity from "automatic" with almost no adjustment to "office" with just about everything adjustable.
    • I had to find some better, more intuitive software to use with it but in reality, when I'm in a hurry, I find scanning with my S8+ phone a whole lot faster than clicking this thing and listening (totally bored) to it hum, waiting for it to mechanically scan each page like the copy machines that came out back in the 80's.
    • A few times the software has crashed, but overall was a good purchase.
    • The software is good with Windows 8 and the Photoshop Elements
    • That's good software
    • The machine is everything I expected and more, relatively easy to install and hook up to my USB port, the software for image improvement is also quite good.
    • The software makes this scanner essentially unusable with OS X (I'm on 10.11)
    • Not everyone has Adobe Photoshop or other expensive software to use the hardware effectively
    • The software on OS X was horrid
    • Software erratic.
    • This is an excellent scanner with good software.

    • The software to correct image quality is great
    • Make sure to go slowly and turn off unwanted software that may be included
    • Would've given it five stars if the scanning software was better, though

    • Epson has such poor quality software for what is a very good scanner
    • Would like it if there was more explanation on what I'm to do with the free software that comes bundled with the scanner.
    • I see them as being perfect for those that just want user friendly software for minor but unwanted corrections on film and prints.
    • Excellent Scanner and Software
    • Works very well for my needs( slides)Would prefer a better software program
    • My only wish would be for a less bulky machine, and one that could be stored on its side like the Canon 220 LiDE that I just got rid of because the software was unbelievably difficult to deal with and didn't cooperate with Windows 10.
    • I did not load the picture enhancing software because I wanted the pictures to look just like the slides...scratches and all
    • I was happy t it works well with windows
    • I love b&w and figured to develope at home like good old days, then scan to positive images
    • The 35mm scans, both slides and negatives (B&W or color) are good enough for most users who want to digitize a large number of family pictures.
    • I also have some 6cm X 9cm negatives (color and B&W) and still have not found a work around to capture the whole negative.
    • Not as sharp as I'd like
    • The CSR was just as sweet as she could be, but she was as clueless as we were
    • We received it Saturday and I began to scan some photo prints as well as to rescan some I had scanned on the multifunction unit scanner.
    • Replaced my expensive HP Scanjet G4050 to use with my MAC because the HP was cantankerous & never worked as it was supposed to
    • therefore I'm disappointed because I feel I was mislead as to it's capabilities.
    • I scanned some negatives of a trip to Yellowstone Nat'l Park that were taken in 1964 and the results were as good as if I had taken them yesterday.
    • When I moved from Windows XP to Windows 7 a few years ago, the scanner would no longer work as it was not compatible with the later operating systems and it was time to retire it anyhow.
    • The more you use this the more you'll wonder if the process can be improved as it's quite time consuming
    • The holders come for 35mm slides and negatives as well as for other sizes, 127 and the larger b&w and color negatives from the 1950's
