I find the scan to WORD does a good job recognizing text, however sometimes has issues with format - documents where pictures are scattered in the text
-
The business card app does an amazing job of extracting data from all kinds of odd business card layouts... but it can't handle inverse text (white on a dark background) at all.

With this setting, if you have a jammed page you don't automatically end the scan job while you unjam the machine, you just clear the jam and hit the button to continue
-
It does a very good job of recognizing the data on the cards.

It did a respectable job with the photos at 300 dpi, but with the plain documents, it is just brilliant.

If you have a jam, the scanning program asks you if you fixed it and want to continue as is, or if you want to scrap the scan job and restart.

and they did a wonderful job of correcting it
-
Does an adequate job at photo's however if high quality photo's scans were needed, I would look elsewhere.
-
But asides from that, and they do a pretty good job of making file naming easy, the S1500 just rips through your papers into PDFs

When it Jams you need to cancel and start over (and it requires using adobe standard to remove the bad scans or merge the successful scan jobs

On the other hand, it did an excellent job of recognizing a challenging older typeface in a facsimile edition of Jules Verne's Adrift in the Pacific: Two Years Holiday

It does a great job with business cards and identification as well.
-
It does a wonderful t job of just being simple and functional

it did a fine job, but in purchasing a product specific to scanning, the improvement is huge!
-
It does such a great job of scanning.

The included software does the job well enough, but a scanner at this price range should not be restricted to proprietary software
-
It does a great job of eliminating blank pages and it can even split stacks of pages into many documents, but it *can't* split them up by original input sheets (unless you set it to leave in blank pages and split into 2-page documents)
-
Does a great job of converting scan to Word
-
It parses and performs OCR on the documents quickly and does an excellent job of getting all the words

This machine scans circles around my old Brother machine (I now use a cheap B&W printer for my printing needs). My only two quibbles about the scanner are the lack of a flat bed (for smaller documents, receipts, etc) and the cost, but if you can afford it, get this scanner!
