    • while the smart phone has Google Maps, which I have to say is preferable because of the full screen graphics and ability to not only see your next turn but your whole route
    • great".The Garmin uses your phones wifi to work, the Garmin Speak app works with your Bluetooth®-enabled smartphone relying on a suitable cellular data connection; Use your phone’s Bluetooth or an AUX cable to hear audio through your car stereo , which is fine, but if I am going to use my phone anyway, I may as well use my phone's navigation as well which is far superior as it has a map to look at and seems to have better directions
    • I think the proper pairing step is to then tell the device that the phone is the right phone, but it is not clear in the instructions, and certainly not in the pairing prompts
    • Mounting is ok, but not as easy as my easy as my phone which I just out in the center console
    • Upgraded phone to S9 and does not work at all.
    • With all that in mind, I have a good data plan, a newer smart phone, and a car with SYNC services, and for me the Garmin Speak works very well
    • it'll say your phone is having difficulty connecting to the internet, then as soon as it stops saying that my phone has switched to LTE and says its connected, they need to add more lag time.
    • There's nothing that I can't do with a smart phone, Google maps and the Alexa app open on my phone.
    • Just answer the questions and if your phone makes the sounds, your good to go
    • It also was discovered that her phone was incompatible w/this device, prompting her to buy a new phone (she really wanted a new phone anyway)..
    • There is no phone audio or text message support.
    • The phone works fine with the car alone (using either Bluetooth or USB/Lightning)
    • No more phone fumbling which is good because of the new hands free laws coming out all over the USA.
    • Upgraded phone to S9 and does not work at all.
    • so my phone is pretty speedy
    • In short, the device appears to require an unrealistically ideal and constant phone signal, and the part that is supposed to attach somewhere on the car doesn't stick
    • I have a cheap Samsung phone and have no problems with connections
    • Another important consideration is your smart phone and data plan
    • Just use your phone, much more reliable and faster to use plus no cables and hassle there.
    • While talking to a device may not be for everyone, if you love Alexa and want to bring her into your car along with additional features that assist you while driving (navigation, safety system, dash cam, hands-free phone calls, and more), then this is definitely the device for you!
    • Since my phone is hands free via the Subaru, with controls on the steering wheel, this is not an option to give up
    • Still waiting on their response to the latest round of tests they suggested but I ended up hard wiring my phone via the MMI using the lightning port on my phone and it works properly now
    • Your phone does all the work through Garmin’s terrible app for this
    • Easy to get pics and video on your smart phone.
    • Not so hot, at least not in comparison to the smart phone that's also in the car when I'm using the Garmin Speak
    • All I wanted was Alexa in the car for facts and news updates, but I’ll plug it into the Aux when I want some tunes I can’t get through XM/FM or smart phone
    • The unit is also seemingly confused by the Bluetooth connection between my phone and car- an easily foreseeable issue that should have been addressed before springing this underdone tech on an unsuspecting public
    • If you know your phone has internet data working, the Speak does connect to the phone but reports YOUR PHONE DOES NOT HAVE AN INTERNET CONNECTION, hunt through your Phone Setup to enable it
