They have been supporting our Boston Acoustics speakers no problem, on carpet with no tipping or falling over

they are what they are, my speakers a little on the heavy side and barley stay upright on the mount, but they work and couldn't beat the price.

My front speakers are close to the max weight and are a bit taller than bookshelf speakers but they still work using the bend in pole to help support the bottom part of the speaker.

For the price, unless you have expensive speakers, in which case shame on you for skimping at the end, I would recommend them.

Contrary to popular belief I placed them on carpet and my speakers are very stable at a 38" height

Furthermore, the base is narrow to the point that a slight push will knock your speakers down - This is a problem for anyone with pets and children who will almost certainly knock these down

The only speakers that they might hold up well would be a very cheap speaker that hardly weighs a pound.
