you have poor airflow over the backplate).Cons: Have to hope you don't get a card with bad coil whine

returned)(ASUS STRIX gets kinda hot and a bit noisier, but had lowest coil whine of the bunch - until I picked up a GAMING X)(the XFX RX

Hardware is good with no coil whining and fairly good thermal management with a blower set up.

If burning in a card actually has great effect at silencing a card, then I can't say I'm not happy to pick a card that already starts out with faint coil whine noise

Now I understand why people complain on a coil whine, toxic fumes, manufacturer support etc. etc

just runs really hot and noisy - if there's a bit of coil whine, then it's drowned out by the blower fan)--I ended up going for the MSI GAMING X, and this one has much more pleasing coil whine characteristics
