Finally, the the barrel of the pencil is made of such flimsy material and the cushioning grip so inadequate that I found myself wondering if these pencils were a Pentel product or a mislabeled knock off.

Pentel added a silicone-like collar on them a few years ago to improve the grip and went to translucent colors, but they remain the same great, simple, workhorse mechanical pencil with the long, twist-up eraser
