Seems like the design is defective since the staples always folded on the same side rather than piercing the paper stack.

It is well designed, and has a hatch to clear jams

The most frustrating part is that their own brand of staples are so inferior they cause their well-designed and reliable device to malfunction

I have returned this item and will be looking for a better designed stapler.
