I also would have liked to be able to add a device name for static IP, it only lists the MAC addresses and no user-defined name to help identify the device

Specifically adding MAC filtering and static IP's was tedious because the router gave no ability to auto-detect available devices and select them for addition to the lists.

You cannot restrict the access to only preferred IP addresses

When the syslog was viewed an entry indicated that the MAC address associated with the main computer's NIC (3Com 3C2000) had an erroneous IP address.

I even changed ISPs in the timeframe, from DSL to Cable and all I had to do was change the WAN to Dynamic IP and no a soft reboot to enable my new ISP

The short of it: very flimsy user-interface (more on that later) and bad HW (lasted only 6 months)1) user interface - after replacing an older Netgear wifi/router with this dedicated "router", and attempting to add static IP assignments to the 20 WIFI units floating around, I ended up cursing TP-Link

NAT continued to function so that any client with a static IP address or clients that continued to use their assigned IP address even after the lease was not renewed would continue to operate normally.

Worked with default settings, and it was easy to configure for a static IP.

Won't recognize that the modem is handing out the static IP with DHCP, nor will the router work when I statically assign the IP address to the router
