Reception is decent with antennae that comes with it, much better with the $35 antennae that I bought at radio shack.

Reception with the supplied "suction cup" antenna is reasonable, but an inexpensive magnetic antenna (like from Hustler) makes a real improvement.

To improve reception and to pick up stations farther away I would suggest an outdoor VHF/UHF antenna

Reception with the included telescopic antenna is adequate (I have not yet tested the vehicle window antenna), but you would definitely get better reception with a third-party antenna (Luckily it has a standard BNC connection for the antenna to facilitate this)

The only thing I would consider if you are thinking about puting it in your personal car is to get a different antenna because there was poor reception with the stock one
