Drains batteries quickly and not user friendly.

I bought expensive rechargeable batteries and they go dead within 24 hours.

I saw some reviews that described this scanner as not being able to get good reception on distant transmissions or good battery life

If batteries go dead you can put any AA batteries in and its ready to listen to.

Rechargeable batteries only down fall is ut don't work on ac when charging.

However it does drain the batteries fairly quickly, so buying some rechargeable batteries is a good idea.

Great battery

Other than the fact that the charger is not smart enough to maintain the proprietary battery pack, this is a good, flexible radio.

Would recommend rechargeable batteries.

The scanner has considerable ability and range, as well as being compact

get a lot of comments/inquiries from strangers as I carry it everywhere listening to local law enforcement and such.
