The adapter works as expected, critical thing here is that the switch recognizes it as the adapter for enough power where the Nintendo Switch can display with a portable HDMI/USB-C hub to a TV, and not just charge, which some adapters out there don't do

With the third-party dock, the Switch would lose charge while playing a game despite showing as charging
Can be used to replace the original nintendo charger to power the switch when plugged into the tv, as well as charging the handheld or joysticks individually.

The adapter works great for standalone charging and in the dock.
So spending the ~$17 and using the original dock and this AC adapter was cheaper than buying a second dock and it works perfectly fine with no worry of bricking.
This adapter and every other third party dock became incompatible with the switch and because of that they started to brick the systems they are used with
