  • Why then should they manufacture something sub-standard to what they used to put out? This controller could have been the best MIDI controller I ever owned for playing drums
  • Its a very cool midi, I use it on fl studio and it makes life so much easier
  • great midi controller.. little pricy but the software it comes with makes up for it!
  • Great MIDI controller, just wish the software to set it up was more intuitive.
  • I was looking for a reliable MIDI pad controller to use with EZDrummer and Reaper and this fit the bill perfectly

Reviews around price (5.00 of 5)

  • Price for this product is fair
  • Very good product for a very good price, however, unless you truly need 16 banks all available at once I would recommend getting the MPK Mini II instead
  • he said he work very well and its a good brand good price.

Reviews around feature (5.00 of 5)

  • 16 pads, 6 knobs that go great for filtering, and great features such as 16 level, note repeat, etc
  • By far the most useful feature is the pad banks, which allows up to 3 different 16 note configurations, but haven't had the need for it yet, but it's a good feature to have.
  • Another great feature is that you get 3 banks of pads and encoders which are switchable via one button
  • Thanks to the supreme court of this great nation, These cretins can now require us to give away our rights as of the moment we use the software (if that's what you want to call this riddled-pockmarked and weeping-pile of broken code.

Reviews around build (5.00 of 5)

  • No problem if you work with a mac/pc, but not suitable for the iPad, you need extra wiring for a USB hub that makes it not so mobile..on the good side, I liked the sliders and the knob to switch settings for different DAWs, and the robust build of the piece..
  • it’s nice though, it seems well built and it looks cool.

Reviews around note repeat (4.03 of 5)

  • It works quite well for that, and the note/repeat+aftertouch combination is extremely helpful for example to get some cymbal wash effects and dynamic rolls.
  • 16 pads, 6 knobs that go great for filtering, and great features such as 16 level, note repeat, etc
  • And the Note Repeat is a lot more intuitive for the modern day sound of Hip Hop as opposed to the MPD26

Reviews around pads (4.03 of 5)

  • Pads are not very cushy- need quite a tight finger for people used to iPads - changing the velocity didn't work out for me
  • Pads work as intended, but are a bit stiff for me and the cable it comes with is laughably short so get yourself a longer one too

Reviews around device (3.86 of 5)

  • If however, you are a serious setup kind of person, this is probably a great device.
  • The velocity sensitivity is excellent and the device feels very durable
  • If you don't know what your doing don't buy this device or you will just waste your time.

Reviews around software (3.75 of 5)

  • Overall: The Pad quality is nice, the software for price is amazing, and you get Note Repeat\MPC Swing\16 Level\Full Level in a controller
  • Easy to use, assuming you have the right software for interfacing.
  • Great MIDI controller, just wish the software to set it up was more intuitive.
  • great midi controller.. little pricy but the software it comes with makes up for it!
  • hardware very good, Akai software somewhat confusing, Big Bang Drum and Percussion software unacceptable.

Reviews around trigger (1.61 of 5)

  • On top of that, double triggering made the unit almost unusable
  • it's great for drum parts (and basslines, and triggering samples)
  • I bought this controller to teach myself finger-drumming but the double/multiple triggering was a nightmare and made using it a very frustrating experience
  • They also said that double triggering is a very uncommon problem
  • I use this for my DJ lighting software and tends to have false triggering on a couple pads

Reviews around flow (1.00 of 5)

  • In finger drumming, when triggering samples, a double stroke can mess up the flow of the performance and create issues
  • It also causes problems with finger drumming, as triggering a sample in the middle of the drum pattern ruins the flow of the session
